I don’t think I have suggested that everyone is the same, however I suspect the discussion about the degrees to which we actually differ is a little larger than this discussion.

But there’s clearly a mental process going on whereby you get from a state of being excited about getting something to no longer being excited about getting it over a period of time. And it’s that process that I genuinely don’t understand. The only explanations can come up with are that either you didn’t really want it in the first place or that during the wait you just went off whatever it was (in this case Solomon Kane) – and if that’s true then again, you didn’t like it as much as you thought you did. They all come back to the same principle of knowing yourself.
