Battle Systems Add A Mighty Fortress To Their Kickstarter!
September 19, 2014 by brennon
With just a few days left a mighty Fortress has been erected by the folks at Battle Systems over on Kickstarter and it looks awesome! See what you think of this beast of a creation...
This is an incredibly versatile kit and allows you to make exterior and interior locations that would be perfect for skirmish gaming and of course role-playing. I want to set up something to do with Warhammer Skirmish in this, maybe a run down Vampires castle in the middle of Sylvania that needs ransacking!
What you see above is just from one Fortress set so that means if you bought two of them think about what you could do! The mind boggles!
What do you think of this creation?

Right, all we need now is for them to have the parts that would allow people to get the equivalent of the Buildings of Malifaux set.
Love it,Want it, so I’m getting it. 🙂
Frigging awesome but hope they haven’t called it a mighty fortress, I’m pretty sure GW have that trademarked along with every other possible gaming related word such as dice, ruler, winning, losing …… ;-D
I need to go back and watch the Weekender again. Didn’t Colin from Battle Systems **just** say “no castles?” 😀 Or was he talking about something that Battle Systems **used** to say? seriously, I’m re-watching the episode now.
Hi oriskany, That was just the humor of the guys running the kickstarter. Sometimes its used to judge how much support there is for an idea so they can give there backers what they asking for.
Good to see you oriskany. Nobody in the scenary making business is entirely immune from the allure of big, perhaps overly ambitious projects. From highly skilled professionals to the most clueless but enthusiastic of amateurs, everyone feels the almost gravitational pull of ‘the big one’ – the dream of creating something truly epic. Castles are perhaps the greatest expression of that dark and secret urge. I imagine that Colin is no different in this regard. He may once have intended not to make a castle, but the temptation is always there.
I think your right. Maybe he’s some kind of reverse Ronnie Renton 🙂
I so want the Sci-fi set now!
Wow that’s awesome! I guess I will spend even more money. This is getting expensive, time for a second job.
Must… resist… urge… to immediately… play… seige game. 😉
That is a fantastic looking castle. Great for full sized seiges played using the Kings of War ruleset, or the rules from Blood in the Badlands or improvised rules for Warhammer, and as the OP points out it also provides great opportunity for skirmish or roleplaying scale engagements.
A creepy Sylvanian castle, a strange and unsettling nobleman in residence, a band of travelling adventurers/soldiers/merchants and their mercenary bodyguards forced to seek shelter from a perhaps not entirely natural storm… The setup practically writes itself.
I was like “I’m only going in for the base dungeon, no extras this time!” and then they go and show this!!! Damn you BattleSystems!
*** IMPORTANT NOTE RE DESCRIPTION OF PHOTOS ABOVE ***
The KS page states that “photos of setups include your Dungeon Pledge and other add-ons that can be purchased separately. So this is an add-on that will ONLY be available with a dungeon pledge.
i.e. this is not available just as a Fortress set (at the moment) and the photos contain more than one Fortress set… just to manage expectations which may have been raised by Brennon’s text.
*$%#ing missed closing quotes in first paragraph after ‘separately’
Nice little castle their.
Lava moats’ as well 50 gold coins for the first person to swim that. LOL
The fortress is now unlocked we are to derelict walls and then a free add-on to link the Sci-fi and fantasy set. Come and check it out
