    Greetings, fellow mech-heads.

I’m slowly working my way through a pile of 1/200 Gundam mobile suits for use with Mobile Suit Skirmish – a fan-made set of rules written by Liam Thomas with contributions from yours truly.

    Link to free rulebook here!

So, here’s a nice Dom high-mobility suit ready to take to the field in the Hell that is post-One Year War Earth. This will be part of my Zeon Remnant army – a bunch of diehards abandoned on Earth following Zeon’s defeat who won’t give up the fight. (I guess they didn’t get the memo.)

    Dom 01

The model is from the HCM Pro line of action figures. These were easily the most detailed representations of Gundam suits available when they released in 2005, complete with optional weapons, swappable hands, and completely posable. Alas, these are no longer in production, but they are pretty cheap in the Japanese second-hand anime product market. As little as 800¥.

    Dom 02

Target scope on the bazooka was hollowed out and replaced with tinted clear sprue, sanded and polished to shape.

HCM Pro models come pre-painted, but this guy is a complete repaint, from basecoat on up. (Used to be purple.) Lots and lots of Tamiya Weathering Master layered on to build up dust and dirt blown up by those bell-bottom plenum skirts on the legs. The secret to using this stuff is coats of matte varnish between each application, to seal it down before building more colour on top.

    Dom 03

The big stick on the back is a Heat Rod – a close combat, white-hot poker, hence the heat-damaged appearance.

That’s one Dom down, two to go. I’ve also got 3 Zaku II’s and a Gelgoog to add to this army, and then it on to the better-equipped but inexperienced Feddies sent into the ruins of Australia to hunt them down!

So, more mecha madness next time. Thanks for taking a look!

Wow, never thought I would see a set of rules for Gundam. My wife has a lot of the action figures from Gundam Wing as she is a superfan of that particular iteration. I wonder if any of them are 1:200 and whether she would let me play with them? =P

No need to be concerned about the scale. Mobile Suit Skirmish works at pretty much any scale. I have armies from 1/400th to 1/144th. I think it works better in the smaller scales, but in truth, most players stick to 1/144 Gunpla kits, if only because of their sheer omnipresence — those kits are everywhere!

Awesome I’ve finally taken the plunge and started building gunpla as my hobby space has become a home school and getting the kids high on glue with sharp tools about is frowned upon by the misses, and frankly I’m pissed it’s taken me this long as I absolutly love it and the kids have mucked in too, but having built them other than admire them and wonder why any one would buy a gw imp Knight as a model kit been scratching head if I could proxy them into a game don’t have to now deff checking those rules out 😀

Lovely paint job though like the battle hardened look not a fan of the fresh off production line look you often see. All but confirmed what I’m buying payday just hope there is stock left at the UK based company I buy from…
