Have You Checked Out WizKids’ Transformers Deep Cuts Miniatures?
February 10, 2021 by brennon
This isn't "new" news by any means but if you missed out on this, you should certainly take a look at the WizKids Deep Cut miniatures for the Transformers universe. Released last year, there is a selection of G1 Transformers for you to pick up and get painting.
Optimus Prime // WizKids
Each of the miniatures is provided primed and ready to paint out of the box. The Deep Cut range is pretty nicely detailed and since they are old-style Transformers, they don't have a whole bunch of detail to worry about. Effectively, you just need to break out those poppy primary colours and get stuck in!
Bumblebee // WizKids
The Autobots and Decepticons have a couple of characters each as part of the original first wave. Optimus Prime and Bumblee are available alongside the classic Megatron and Starscream.
Megatron // WizKids
With these key characters available from the folks at WizKids right now, you have the basis of a fun collection. I'm sure you could maybe even port these over into a number of different games if you wanted to use them on the tabletop. Coming in at around $5 for a miniature, they seem like a really nice piece to pick up for fans of the old school Transformers.
Starscream // WizKids
As well as the four miniatures from the original wave, you've also got two miniatures which dropped for the second wave. Once again, you've got an equal amount of Autobots and Decepticons to play around with as they added Arcee...

...and Soundwave into the larger collection. Again, these are two of the iconic characters from the original series of Transformers and they look pretty darn awesome to paint.
Soundwave // WizKids
So, we've seen these miniatures in their primed form but they are "transformed" once you get a layer of paint down on them. Since they are the head honchos of their respective factions I thought it would be cool to show off the painted version of Optimus Prime...

...and Megatron here. Again, because these are classic miniatures with very poppy colour schemes you don't have to worry too much about washes and highlighting. You could get away with a very basic scheme on these and they'd still look amazing.

They might be a little hard to get your hands on at the moment but it's worth asking your local gaming store about these miniatures if you're excited to get painting some classic Transformers. I would hope that with it being a year after their original release, we might end up seeing a few more of these miniatures popping up to bulk out the roster. This might make a certain member of the team very happy indeed...

Very good, very good…
You can have that for free ?
MY WAAAAAALLLEETTT…………
But since they launched them in the US last year and already did a wave 2… is this now the start for a launch in Europe?
They are great looking figures I can see people getting them as a new battletech faction?
i could see seekers and other jetformers be used as Land Air Mechs (LAM for short) in games of Battletech.
Yes I can see that
I like these but they don’t transform.
yeah … transformers that don’t transform.
What fresh hell is this ?
There’s been a number of non-transforming TF models released in the toylines too, usually because they had collector-tier details and paintjob as opposed to kids’ toys features. But yes, it feels somewhat silly to have completely non-poseable, non-transforming sculpts of the basic 1980s characters. They’re nice renditions tho!
Yes they are greta, but have they been released in europe?
They look to be awaiting a reprint/restock on a number of different websites. It might be one to ask your Friendly Local Gaming Store about.
Well, I guess I’ll be adding some of these next time I order anything.
Those look really good. Remember Soundwave superior, Autobots inferior.

Look, I already have enough of a problem managing my miniatures habit alongside my addiction to the mainline Transformers lines. I can’t be doing with getting into TF minis as well….
But if they start in on characters from Beast Wars or using IDW-inspired designs for the sculpts, then I am well and truly ****ed >_<
Well EU supplier Blackfire had the second wave on preorder….

Still no word on when the range will get here. I was writing with their staff and the word was “should be available in Europe soon” … :S
Love it
Has anyone seen one standing next to a 28mm humanoid? What would they look like alongside nice modern wargames scenery, or fighting modern troops?
Yes please!
I just painted Optimus last night. Working on Megatron now. The material is very rubbery but I still love them
Playing Gamma Wolves with these guys would be amazing! 😀 😀 😀
These are tagged as ’28mm’. I suspect that that might be a mistake, unless these are very heroic scale minibot versions.
Here’s a size comparison with an Infinity model. https://ibb.co/0Y75Q0T
i prefered one from ali express – metal model to assemble.
Strangely taken by these
