This isn't "new" news by any means but if you missed out on this, you should certainly take a look at the WizKids Deep Cut miniatures for the Transformers universe. Released last year, there is a selection of G1 Transformers for you to pick up and get painting.

Optimus Prime - WizKids

Each of the miniatures is provided primed and ready to paint out of the box. The Deep Cut range is pretty nicely detailed and since they are old-style Transformers, they don't have a whole bunch of detail to worry about. Effectively, you just need to break out those poppy primary colours and get stuck in!

Bumblebee - WizKids

The Autobots and Decepticons have a couple of characters each as part of the original first wave. Optimus Prime and Bumblee are available alongside the classic Megatron and Starscream.

Megatron - WizKids

With these key characters available from the folks at WizKids right now, you have the basis of a fun collection. I'm sure you could maybe even port these over into a number of different games if you wanted to use them on the tabletop. Coming in at around $5 for a miniature, they seem like a really nice piece to pick up for fans of the old school Transformers.

Starscream - WizKids

As well as the four miniatures from the original wave, you've also got two miniatures which dropped for the second wave. Once again, you've got an equal amount of Autobots and Decepticons to play around with as they added Arcee...

...and Soundwave into the larger collection. Again, these are two of the iconic characters from the original series of Transformers and they look pretty darn awesome to paint.

So, we've seen these miniatures in their primed form but they are "transformed" once you get a layer of paint down on them. Since they are the head honchos of their respective factions I thought it would be cool to show off the painted version of Optimus Prime...

Optimus Prime Painted - WizKids

...and Megatron here. Again, because these are classic miniatures with very poppy colour schemes you don't have to worry too much about washes and highlighting. You could get away with a very basic scheme on these and they'd still look amazing.

They might be a little hard to get your hands on at the moment but it's worth asking your local gaming store about these miniatures if you're excited to get painting some classic Transformers. I would hope that with it being a year after their original release, we might end up seeing a few more of these miniatures popping up to bulk out the roster. This might make a certain member of the team very happy indeed...
