Imperial Dwarf Army by piers

We dive into a set of painted figures which immediately captured my attention. Who would have thought that I would get obsessed with an army of classic Imperial Dwarfs for use in Warhammer/Oldhammer style games?

Imperial Dwarf Army #1 by piers

This selection of miniatures come from the old Citadel collection and have been brought to life exceptionally well by piers. All of these warriors are of the no-knee variety and I absolutely love it. I really like the more Medieval style of armour which steps away from the classic Norse look that you often get for Dwarfs.

Imperial Dwarf Army #2 - piers

There are 172 miniatures in this collection including a number of different hero characters, lots and lots of foot troops, artillery and even a few incidental pieces which act as elite options and the like too. I have never wanted to see a gallery of individual images for all of the miniatures in a project more.

If you are impressed by the look of these miniatures then you can dive in and check out the project above to see more.

Ancient Greeks by biddopaintsminis

Next up, we move back in time and look to the Ancient past with biddopaintsminis. Here we have the start of an Ancient Greek army using Victrix miniatures for Clash Of Spears.

Ancient Greeks #1 by Biddopaintsminis

The miniatures have been painted with a mixture of contrast paints from Games Workshop and traditional paints too. Across the selection of figures that have already been painted, contrast paint has been used for the skin and cloth whilst more refined details are then picked out with normal paints.

Ancient Greeks #2 by Biddopaintsminis

I really like the final look for the miniatures we're seeing here. The contrast paint works really well and I think the choice of bright colours really makes the miniatures stand out. The flashes of bright blue and white mixed with the bronze and earthier tones for the skin have produced a great set of tabletop standard miniatures.

Ancient Greeks #3 by Biddopaintsminis

The miniatures have then been finished off with transfers from Little Big Man, a staple of the industry now, especially for complicated shield designs. Again, these look fantastic and I think that once these miniatures are all banded together as part of a large army, they are going to look superb.

A few more miniatures are on the way including cavalry so make sure to keep an eye on the project above!

Gnawlochs by spea6712

The final set of miniatures for this week come from Oakbound Studio and were painted by spea6712. Here we have a set of the Gnawlochs which are one of the fearsome factions from this whimsical Fantasy game.

Gnawlocks #1 by spea6712

Whilst some of the miniatures have got a little lost in the photography process, you get get a good look at how the miniatures are coming together. I love the dark red/brown fur for each of the Gnawlochs and how it contrasts so nicely with the blues and greens of their tartan kilts. The bronze weaponry then really sells that more Celtic/Gaelic feel to the miniatures.

Gnawlocks #2 by spea6712

It seems like spea6712 is going to be working on a few more characters and warbands for The Woods including Goblins and I am very interested to see how they come out. I should note, especially when you get a look at the back of these miniatures, that you've got some really nice attention to detail on the shields and the bases. It works very nicely indeed.
