Saaaaga

I’ve painted a lot of minis. But surprisingly  not many horses. If I do anymore, I may need to reference some pictures. Is there a limit to the number of shades of brown a horse can be?

Looking at some test pieces here too. I’d like to incorporate yellows and purples into the war band, but I’m not settled on which purple.

It’s cold here in Indiana. That means no rattlecan. And, no airbrush because I’m not that fancy.

So, when I start a new project in the winter I have to brush on some primer. And for the past couple years Ive used this strange orange stuff labeled “primer” that I got from the loot bag at Adepticon a few years ago. I have several bottles because people said, “what’s this?” And left it on tables at the con. I hat to see paint go to waste and it basically does the job.

On the left you’ll see some test pieces I did with the Green Stuff World Greek roller.

I have a laser pecker.
No, really. I do. Sounds like something Austin Powers would have, but I got mine from Kickstarter after a long wait last year.

For the hobby, I’ve put it to good use. Tokens, signs, templates, basically anything wood or chipboard is easy. Plastics and metals I haven’t tried yet.

So when I learned that Saga used custom dice, I thought this would be perfect. Instead of fiddling with stickers or paying out the nose for each faction (plus magic if I try that flavor of Saga), I figured $3 for ten dice on Etsy, plus Laser Pecker!

This is my first go. Doing the Romans on natural wood. More colors in the mail!

Starting with the Carthaginians 4pt box. Looking forward to eventually getting some elephants on the table. Used this stuff I’d had lying around for a while but never knew what to do with. Add a little sand and it works well to level out the bases and add some texture!
