Keep Your Golem Arcana Mini’s Safe in Battle Foam
September 15, 2014 by deltagamegirl22
If you have gotten into Golem Arcana, as we have, perhaps you find yourself uttering some choice words (as I often do!) as you try to take the mini's in and out of the plastic storage mold they come in within the box? Don't get me wrong, they are nice and secure in there and it's nice to have them safely tucked away in the box- but you shouldn't have to fight with them to the point of concern over breaking them as you take them in and out for games. Thankfully, Battle Foam has an answer.
Battle Foam has Golem Arcana shape options available in their custom tray section, so you can choose which pieces you have and need storage for and set your tray up to fit them nicely.
Here's an example of a tray that would accommodate the miniatures that come in the basic box set.
Yes, I realize that this would cost money to store them this way, but it's either money to store them safely for ease of use, or money to replace mini's when my temper gets the best of me when fighting to take them out or put them away. As you can see, there is plenty of room on the tray for other pieces as well if you configure the tray differently- so you can get your add ons in this tray as well.
Will you be building your custom tray?

As with Ex Illis … forcing people to use some sort of tablet (or in the case of Ex Illis a laptop or PC) begs the question of … why not just make an app/video game and skip the physical components. I say this as a lover of tabletop games and video games and apps. I see the desire to maybe expand horizons by using technology to make more complex stuff, simple, yet so far the execution on these sorts of games again … just begs the question of why am I doing this? Why am I not just playing… Read more »
From what I have seen, the XCOM game, and Leaders: the Combined Game, display good use of tablet tech with a board game. I feel Golem Arcana gets often sold on solving issues that were mainly predominant in games from 15 years ago i.e. huge amounts of rules (you mean like in Mechwarrior – oh who designed that?), which doesn’t really reflect where wargaming has gone.
Since I never played Ex Illis I cannot comment on that game. What I can tell you regarding Golem Archana is that just about anyone can pick it up and play it. Easy for kids to play or anyone else. They are updating the world regularly. Even if it goes by the wayside it will be interesting collectors item. I like it. It is fun to play and you play not get bored down with rules.
I never really understood why this game came about tbh. Its selling point was that the stylus remembers the rules for you…. but surely an understanding of the rules changes your thought processes and allows you to make and change your decisions.
With regards to the Battle foam product though, it is really great that you can custom make your foam. I think the BoW guys got their foam to accommodate their recording equipment. How cool is that. 🙂
Must be very cool to get quoted underneath the home screen post 😉
