@brennon undoubtedly will drive Warren into a rage but probably newsworthy,

Bladeborn which looks like a mixture of minis and mechanics from Underworlds and Warcry.

Doomsday which looks like a mixture of Killteam and Blackstone Fortress

Fireteam which looks like a Killteam and Underworlds

I admit that these had my interest when I first saw some details on these: mostly because of the short play time. When my portion of the world starts to return to a place where I can game in person with people, the idea of diet Killteam (the game I play(ed) with widest array of people) is a good proposition as we work on getting back to full capacity.

I suppose the reservation I have is if any of these are going to turn into another expanding game format or will they be something self contained I can buy, build and put on the shelf to pull down whenever we have an hour to fill and we want to get our gaming fix.

I’ll certainly be watching for more details.

Fireteam looks a lot like a re-branded/re-booted version of Scout Patrol. I think BoW even had a vlog about the game where they made it ‘better’ by adding more 3D scenery to it.

I suspect that these sets will be like the Blitz Bowl mini bloodbowl game that was USA-exclusive. So may not be available in Europe, which kind of sucks because a beer&pretzel style game with a Warhammer/40k theme is kind of cool.

The ‘games’ look a bit like the old ‘model + game’ thing that GW used to do too.

The new warhammer Quest looks better, but you never know if it will be a limited edition or a fully supported product like Blackstone Fortress was. The announcement did make me think that this is supposed to compete with Frostgrave as a modern re-release of Mordheim.

It is impossible to predict what GW will do with anything that isn’t 40k or AoS though, which (IMHO) is the one thing that stops me from getting excited.

Blitzbowl and the other games were avalaible in North America, Canada and Germany. So they were not USA only.

These games do look interesting, Gorechoosen and Combat Arena were fun and Blitzbowl is said to be good too.

It was interesting to hear people’s reactions to this on CoG radio tonight to these. I suppose as a relative newcomer to the hobby (about 3 years all told, two years playing with GeeDubs) I have never seen the previous iterations that people have been referencing so don’t really see these as a retread of something with little substance.

Perhaps that is there purpose? To be “The Producers” of the GW line up. So cheap that it can’t fail and is designed to appeal to people who’ve never seen it before and it can then bomb out before they move onto another one of half a decade.

Perhaps turns my off the prospect slightly or maybe I’m bring cynical but I think all here will agree that GW is a company first and into the hobby second. I don’t know, it’s made me quite introspective about it and unsure how I feel without getting more info on what is in the boxes and how the games will play.

Its a shame they are not straying from well known factions, would be all over a boardgame set in the surprisingly decent (the writing is passable and doesnt seem like a hybrid thesaurus of words for gore and a haynes manual for a suite of armor) warhammer crime universe, or even a kal jerico game, but nah more chaos vs [space|sig]marines and marines vs necrons meh, bring back inquisitor i say….

@kiranamida I think you hit the nail on the head. GW aren’t aiming these games at people that are aleady gaming with them. These are mass market games that hopefully lead the layman into miniature gaming. Basically they are really good quality toy soldiers.

@timchubb 100% agree. It would have been not only nice but a great opportunity to drop some new sculpts in something new rather than a hybrib cut down of the existing stuff.
