Ancient Greeks for Clash of Spears
Quick Painting with Contrast Paints
I’m looking to paint my Greeks up to a good table top standard without having to spend too much time achieving the look I want. The contrast paint range from Games Workshop works great on the Victrix Miniatures ancients line and is a good brand of paint for getting quick results. I start by priming with the Grey Seer spray. This is a personal preference as I find it easier to get a nice smooth spray finish with the Grey Seer as opposed to the Wraithbone spray. For most contrast paints having an undercoat of Grey Seer works great but I find the exception to this is the skin colors because applying them over the Grey Seer can sometimes cause them to have a grey tone to them. Not ideal for skin as it can make your figure look sickly. To counteract this I than cover the skin areas with the brush on version of Wraithbone. The Skin colors look great when applied over the Wraithbone. Next I give the whole mini a good drybrush with white. By doing this all the raised areas on the model will be white and this will help the Contrast paint do its thing and the color pop more.
