The liche king

So once again I was feeling a bit bored of what I was currently working on so I decided to take a break and look among my rpg for something quick and fun. Lo and behold I rediscovered this liche king model which had sat primed in Vallejo black for years.

I started by airbrushing his base with AP necromancer cloak, followed by Vallejo gray and then light gray. I thereafter layered AP necromancer cloak on his black robes and the base edge. Followed by an edge highlight of AP uniform gray on his robes. I then gave all metal bits a solid layer of AP gun metal, while the leather and the skull was given a layer of AP leather brown. I then stippled on all of the metal areas some necromancer cloak. Then to create rust I picked out some spots on the metal with AP dry rust. I then layered on weapon bronze. I then washed all the metal and leather in a thin coat of AP strong tone.

The bone was then layered in AP desert yellow followed by very fine edge layering with AP skeleton bone. I then used a very fine detail brush to paint in the eye sockets with AP matt white, which was followed with a layer of AP hawk turquoise and then a final dot of AP royal cloak.

His actual cloak was just two thin layers of AP deep blue, followed by edge highlights of 50/50 mix of deep blue and AP griffon blue.

The fur on the cloak was first layered in a 50/50 mix of leather brown and desert yellow followed by a rough layer with a drybrush of skeleton bone.

By this stage the metal was dry and so I reapplied some selective gun metal and dry rust.

The model was then varnished through my airbrush with AP anti-shine matt varnish.

All in all he only took an hour or so but I’m pleased with him and he was a fun distraction to get me vack into painting.
