Forge Fathers by kharegim

We kick things off for this week in Community Spotlight where we show off some of the excellent Forge Fathers which have been painted up by kharegrim for use in Warpath. I have always dreamed of having a Forge Fathers army for use on the tabletop so I often get excited when I see folks painting them!

Forge Fathers #1 by kharegim

As well as a selection of the core troopers for use in a Forge Fathers army, kharegrim has also worked on this impressive walker for the force too. I really like the military grey look that has been used across the armour panels and how nicely that contrasts next to the pale cream which accents portions of the miniature.

Forge Fathers #2 by kharegim

The big chunky weapons being then painted up in a metallic iron colour then works really nicely and work well across the force. I really like that the melee weapons have been painted up with a fiery hot look and feel to them. I often find it hard to do that but I think going with a red/orange and then highlighting it with yellow works well in this case for Sci-Fi models.

Forge Fathers #3 by kharegim

It's nice when you see the entirety of this little force all pulled together like this and finished off with a rough astrogranite base. I am looking forward to seeing lots more characters and troops from the Forge Fathers range (fingers crossed!) and I eagerly await the Brokkr if there are some lying about.

Frostgrave Warband by bobcockayne

Next, we move to the frozen city of Felstad and adventure into Frostgrave with bobcockayne. Following in our footsteps, he has been painting up a warband and getting ready to get stuck into a game or two of this excellent Fantasy skirmisher.

Frostgrave #1 by bobcockayne

A selection of the miniatures here have come together nicely over the past few weeks and I think this seems like a fun project for such a wintery season. Many of the newer models were painted up using Contrast pains from Games Workshop to get them tabletop ready but I like that we've also got some strong accent colours in the mix too.

Not all of the miniatures for use in Frostgrave were painted recently though and it seems like this was a good excuse to dig out some older miniatures as well. You can check those out in the project which is linked above but it's also nice looking through all of the miniatures which have been brought together for this project.

Frostgrave #3 by bobcockayne

It's nice that as well as the browns, greys and blacks we've also got blues, greens and more thrown in there too. I also really like the build-up of snowy material on the bases too. I like the big snow piles which are nice and the scattered grass which helps break things up and turns it a bit into a tundra.

Frostgrave #2 by bobcockayne

It's always fun seeing people really getting stuck into a project and from the looks of it, bobcockayne is going to be playing plenty of games. A tabletop has been set up and everything which is packed with terrain.

Gamma Wolves Mecha by jesusjohn

We finish off this week's Community Spotlight with a peek at some Mecha which have been painted up by jesusjohn for use in Gamma Wolves which we had an interview about recently!

Gamma Wolves #1 by jesusjohn

These excellent Gundam-esque kits look like a fantastic way to delve into something like Gamma Wolves. I've often viewed the game as one which is more like Mechwarrior but I think these more dynamic-looking walkers also work just as well for a game such as Gamma Wolves. It helps that the painting of them, as you can see, is excellent and gets across the badass military look.

Two of these big Mecha have been painted up by jesusjohn and they seem like a fantastic starting point to get going with the game. I love the mix of military green, grey and also a bit of metallic work here and there to help make the miniatures pop.

Gamma Wolves #2 by jesusjohn

You've also got to appreciate the graffiti which has been worked into the miniatures in places to show off how individual they are. Also, the battle damage on the legs and such is great and they feature a great degree of weathering too. The simple basing also works well and I think helps frame them nicely.

So, if you've been wondering about the best way to get into Gamma Wolves then maybe this would work for you as an option!
