Spartan Games Get Out and Walk in Planetfall
September 5, 2014 by dracs
Spartan Games preparing to make Planetfall and have just put out a couple of new previews we can expect to see hitting the planets' surfaces in the near future.
First we got our first look at some of the infantry for the Aquans, Directorate and the Sorylians.
These infantry show off some particularly cool designs, especially considering the minis themselves will be about 10mm scale. Spartan say that the infantry bases will only feature between two to four miniatures each and will be scenic bases, meaning we can expect some pretty cool looking armies are going to appear on the table.
Of course, you don't always have to walk and the Directorate forces will have the chance to field this cool Armoured APC.
This vehicle keeps to the style of the Directorate we have already seen, and while I would say it looks a bit bulky to be practical, it is still and excellent and well detailed design.
Which faction will choose when you play Planetfall?

Gettin’ better and better
Indeed very cool stuff so far! More and more cool stuff in this scale … a 10mm golden age is dawning!
I might have liked Planetfall at 28mm and the Dystopian Wars infantry game at 10mm, but I do like the look of the Directorate.
I think they’re also aiming for a Planetfall 28mm game. Or at least they showed off a game of it at Claymore this year.
Well, ***K me sideways! These minis look pretty awesome, if I may say so. Spartan games seize more and more of my interest with each new sneak peek =)
is this 15mm or 10mm? cause if its 10mm I could see some mixing ant matching with DzC
10mm. And mixing and matching might be hard, from what I gathered they went for more “real” scale for the vehicles instead of the super-slimmed down DzC models so they might clash lookswise.
I’m waiting to see more before I commit to DZC or Planetfall, but as @demyse suggested, with both being the same scale I may end up with a certain amount of both, and go with whatever rules set appeals to me most. Good plan, as I love the figures for both games. Seems Planetfall currently has the edge on 10mm infantry though! Wow!
10mm is gaining ground for sure… Planetfall, DzC, and the ever-living Heavy Gear are all 10mm. I really want to like DzC, but the fixation with buildings and some of the designs just turn me off a bit. Planetfall on the other hand.. I’m not gonna lie.. kinda gives me a rager… a solid chub at least. There’s more pics at Spartans FB page btw.
That’s kinda why I decided against DzC after playing three test games. It’s almost exclusively building based. Objectives are almost always in buildings, infantry is best in buildings, you score the most points by taking/destroying buildings. It felt very… same-y. It was always a city fight with a different layout. That and I just don’t care for the aesthetic designs of the armies. Just not my taste.
Very, very cool! I will most likely get some Terran units and vehicles because the models appeal to me and I collect more than game… maybe i’m a hoarder?
I am also looking forward to 28mm, and not that horrible 32mm Dystopian Legions scale.
