New Stuart Tank Kits & Soviet Specialists For Bolt Action
December 30, 2020 by brennon
We have some World War II goodness to check out from Warlord Games this week as a bunch of pre-orders went live for those playing as the British, US, Soviets and Chinese plus some Soviet specialists in Bolt Action.
M5 Stuart Light Tank // Bolt Action
This new kit comes with a bunch of options for those wanting to build an M5 Stuart Light Tank for your army. This particular kit allows you to build the Stuart in the M5A1 variant or instead you can strap a flamethrower to the stop and see how that plays out during your games.
You can also play around with more than one M5 Stuart Light Tank as there is a Platoon for you to pick up as well.

Why roll into battle with just one of these tanks when you could have three? You could build them in a variety of different ways and then use them as a group or individually depending on the encounter that you find yourself playing out.
Because these tanks also found themselves becoming part of many different Allied armies it might also give you the chance to bulk up the reserves of one of your smaller forces too. They are nifty looking vehicles!
Soviet Specialists
If you're instead into your Soviets and building up more infantry options for when you find yourselves skirmishing through the streets of some blasted city, then check out these. We start with a Soviet Airborne Squad.
Soviet Airborne Squad // Bolt Action
These Airborne Squads of the Soviet army were some of the bravest soldiers out there and they were dropped in great numbers during World War II. An entire Corp of them was dropped into the rear of the German army during 1942 and even though they weren't able to achieve their objective they were a royal pain in the backside for the German army.
As well as the Airborne you can also blast away some German armour with the addition of a Soviet Anti-Tank Team.
Soviet Anti-Tank Teams // Bolt Action
The options available to the Soviets weren't quite as sophisticated as the variants used by the other factions during World War II but with enough of them at the ready they could crack even the toughest German armour. You just had to make sure that you got fairly close to your target before you got stuck in.
As well as an Anti-Tank Rifle Team you also have Ampulomet which was a strange mortar-like device and even some Dog Mines. These weren't the best of weapons as the dogs often just ran back to the safety of the Soviet lines but they were credited with destroying a bunch of tanks at Kursk! Could you send Fido off to die under a tank?
Last but not least we have a Soviet NKVD Squad who worked as internal security during the war although they also found themselves at the front lines too.

You would often find squads of these soldiers at the rear of an offensive with guns at the ready to force fleeing troops back into battle. When your allies are shooting at you it's probably better to just turn around and head back into battle! You would also find these soldiers patrolling roads and bridges as they kept a beady eye out for unauthorised movement of troops and vehicles.
Are you tempted by these new releases? If so, keep an eye out for their release in February!

Very nice figures the hunny’s would be great as a scout unit.
they need to be painted mouse grey…. you know…. because… Stuart Little…
Oooooh – NKVD?! Wasn’t expecting these!
Stuart VI in plastic? Count me in!
yes … use dogs to kill enemy tanks.
that is a win/win in my book 😉
It’s one of those things that prove that real life is crazier than anything we have in our fiction.
The only thing missing is a cow catapult for medieval games 😀
I have dived in and got a pack of NKVD on pre-order. I have been asking Warlord for NKVD for a couple of years now, and am delighted to see hem and the para troopers done. I am particularly looking forward to adding the squad to my Strafbat infantry platoon. They will stand out massively on the tabletop, and add a bit of resistance to a platoon largeley composed of the worst troops available to the Bolt Action player. At a later date I may get a second platoon and paint up an appropriate offcer to have them as an… Read more »
