Snap Up Conquest: First Blood Starter Sets From Para Bellum!
December 28, 2020 by brennon
Para Bellum Wargames have put together some more options for those diving into the world of Conquest: The Last Argument Of Kings and First Blood, their skirmish wargame. First Blood is a way for you to dive in and enjoy the game with a handful of models per faction.

Each of the sets comes with a selection of their 35mm miniatures which you can use to form the core of your warband. You can see it here with the Dweghom and the other sets that you have some integral core infantry backed up by a character and all of the cards, bases and such you need for gameplay.

Whilst I was quite taken by the Dweghom box above, I also really like the Nords option here too. I like the warriors they've got in here, both with the Raiders and Huskarls. They are also led by a Jarl who is one of my favourite models from the range.
You can also drop in some support for those opening factions from the world of Conquest, namely The Hundred Kingdoms and The Spires.

As well as the miniatures, cards and bases, you'll also find a small First Blood paperback booklet which comes with all of the rules you need to get going. If you've been tempted by Conquest but not wanted to dive right into another mass battle game then this might be a good way to test the waters.

Those look really good.
I’ve been enjoying all the Conquest content you guys have been putting out and also like the mindset PB seems to have regarding the game and the game world but just don’t have the desire to get into full rank and file game at this point. First Blood might make for a nice option to get into the world without a full commit (but keeping the possibility to expand later).
Thumbs up to PB for putting this out.
Oh and to answer the question, I’m torn between he Nords and the 100 Kingdoms.
Those halberdiers look great. Such lovely detailed minis.
Great looking starter set’s of fantastic figures.
