World War II Hungarians & The Bulge Coming To Flames Of War
December 28, 2020 by brennon
Continuing with the previews from Battlefront Miniatures for what’s dropping in 2021 we got a peek at a new set of books for Flames Of War and World War II wargaming in 15mm.
Bagration Axis & Allies // Flames Of War
Shop Flames Of War @ Store.OnTableTop
The beginning of 2021 is centred around Operation Bagration and the Axis & Allies who are battling during this particular portion of the war.
Hungarian Starter Force // Flames Of War
A new Starter Set which focuses on one particular portion of this Axis force is the addition of the Hungarians. This is slimmed down and comes packed with Assault Guns. Everyone likes a good Assault Gun. You’ve also got the new book which is packed with rules and plenty of historical information for those fascinated by the period.
The Battle Of The Bulge
The future of Flames Of War will also then look to another key element of World War II and The Battle Of The Bulge. July through to November will feature a new book and miniatures for the Americans, British and Germans.
Bulge Supplements // Flames Of War
New kits are going to be coming out alongside this new set of books. So, you’ll find all manner of additional plastic kits for a variety of tanks that battled during this period.
There is plenty to look forward to when it comes to Flames Of War and World War II. I like that they are focusing in on particular battles or operations and allowing interested parties to build very focused armies to match. It’s a good way of collecting miniatures.
Are you tempted by these new miniatures?

Nice to see something a little different from the Big 4 power sets. I wonder if we will see Italian and Romanian boxed sets to follow.
yep … it is nice to see a non-standard faction get some of the glory of a proper release/launch.
Really wanting the see the hungarians and the command cards. I loved playing them as other germans and they are a good side force. The battles in Hungary at the war’s end were a real brutal affair.
and the Bulge, this can be good and to see a book with british, very undercovered area of operations for the Bulge with most of the spotlight to the US |( not that the US para’s didn’t deserve the proper heroics, they were totally living up to their legend status.)
I want to play germans!
-We have germans at home!
Germans at home:
A nice change to mix with other force’s.
Next year’s going to hurt!
Some Starter Set….WHERE’S THE BLOODY INFANTRY?
Usually there’s a token amount in these boxes (usually just a platoon), but they’ve not bothered this time around. Come on Battlefront, if you really want to push your rules as “combined arms” you need to get players at least semi-started on the right track.
Way things are going, Battlefront may as well rename the game to “MEGA TANK BATTLES” and be more honest about the game system.
….rant mode off
But it’s still nice to see the first Hungarian tank come out in plastic (as bit niche perhaps for expected sales), Turan II next?
yeah … it’s starting to annoy me too.
OTOH those boxes are filled with a lot of plastic kit already.
And by only using vehicles it keeps the overall model count low, which helps a lot to get an army ready for a game.
