Russian preview sprue

I have been recently messing with digital backgrounds recently. It’s a little more difficult to do with these miniatures but they have turned out okay. I need to work on the concept a little more to make it fully work with DW but it’s a step in the right direction.

After some set backs with weather and health issues I managed to base coat my ships. After much deliberation and seeing other people with preview sprues painting up their stuff I finally decided on a rough scheme. I decided to Go for mostly dark metallic paints with a gloss wash over it.

So the weather has turned cold and wet and as I don’t have an airbrush  getting a good, even coat with a brush is tricky I will have to wait for things to get better. In the meanwhile I am contemplating colour schemes. Looking at the logo for the faction it is a very dark brown. I think having the entire ship in dark colours will be too much but I definitely want to incorporate it. I have seen a lot of light Grey’s and blues used as well so I may incorporate them but only mildly. I have a potential Idea in mind but nothing concrete yet.

Something a lot of people are interested in is the size of the models so I have done a scale photo. So here are a couple of pictures of how big they are and how the 2 ships compare. Unfortunately I have none of the old range so can’t compare the scale to those miniatures.

So finally I have built the cruiser from the sprue. I went for the single weapon option rather than the double just to show off the versatility of the sprue. I have taken a picture with every single weapon and support option in the boats slot. Now I just need to paint them up.

I got a chance last night to start building the Frigates. They look amazing and once they are together you can start to notice details you hadn’t spotted before. The only minor niggle is that the stacks are incredibly tight. Really happy with how they look and next I will be moving onto the Cruiser build. I also realized after I had took the photos that I had missed the shields on the front.

So this morning I received a mystery box in the mail. Thinking it was something I had ordered a while ago and forgot about. I was really excited to open the box and find a preview plastic sprue for Dystopian Wars. I need to get it built about and ready to paint.
