Fireforge Games’ El Cid Leads Your Army Into Battle
December 9, 2020 by brennon
One of the most iconic figures in Spanish history is now available for you to snap up from the folks at Fireforge Games. El Cid can be snapped up for your Medieval Historical wargaming forces in 28mm both on foot and mounted.
El Cid // FireForge Games
Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar who was called El Cid by the Moors was a legendary figure that made a massive impact on not just this period but Spanish history, folklore and more. He was certainly an impressive figure but I must admit that my knowledge of his exploits is drawn fairly exclusively from the film of the same name starring Charlton Heston.
El Cid (1961) Trailer
Now those were some impressive onscreen battles! Again, probably not the most accurate of movies but it was damn fun and at least had me learning a little more about him! At any rate, this resin miniature can be combined with the rest of the Spanish Collection from Fireforge to create your own warband worthy of battlefield fame.
Are you tempted to pick up El Cid?

Nice model Will get one for my SAGA Spanish warband
A fabulous looking model for a very strong legendary figure.
Yeah that is a lovely mini on horseback. Fireforge don’t some incredibly detailed work.
Nice!!! Loved studying the Cid as an undergrad, that classic film got me through my exam haha
As much as I love El Cid this mini is completely wrong. Fireforge put it up on Facebook and got dozens and dozens of replies saying ‘mini good just not accurate’.
What they should have done it reused this mini as a Crusader and redone El Cid without the surcoat, for context having him wear one would be like seeing Napoleonic Soldiers dressed in Modern Camo. El Cid was around at the time of Hastings long before the surcoat.
It’s a nice mini but it’s just not accurate.
It is a little jarring. I presume this meant to be the movie version
I thought that too – as a movie inspired rendition it’s great
