I like the neatness in your paintwork. Also like the idea of your project, I’m on a similar path to you but I’ve taken a slightly different take, I’ve sold off my old collection to get the modern minis I want to play in 6th edition. Looking at yours makes me think twice about that decision!
@jmsstockwell ironically these are all new purchases and I got very lucky on a Lizardmen ebay bitz lot so I could upgrade the weapons i thought they should have. Plus I love the older model look, cant beat the skinks in this ed imo.
Thanks on the painting, these older models just feel like painting by numbers with contrast paints which helps so much.
Look forward to seeing your army should be agreed
Ah so is this a completion project, go about and get all the mini’s you wanted when you where little? I think the quality of a model comes from its capturing of an archetype, so you can recognise what’s going on at a glance. Miniatures like yours have captured an archetype very well and look great at a glance. Some more modern fantasy are too abstract or busy in their detail to tell what’s going on. This makes me look at them and feel like they are messy, some of the age of sigmar stuff is indecipherable to me and… Read more »
@jmsstockwell yeah kind of, a friend gave me some lizzies he was binning and you cant just have a few models and so now i have a nice 2000 point list. With 3d prointing and some of the models coming out as well i can build the army i liek the look of rather than just what GW created (its also sooo much cheaper).
Agree totally on how busy some models are from GW now,its nice to paint something nice and simple for a change. Do you have a project for your uber 6th ed armies?
The customisation options with 3D printing sound perfect. I’ve yet to dabble but it is on my horizon I think. I’ve sort of got a project for the uber game, all my projects are sub-projects of the uber game! It’s so I have something to look forward to completing every now and again, you know a good benchmark to achieve instead of slogging for 5 years before completion! So at the moment I’m bringing my mates and wife through dungeon saga into frostgrave. Their enjoying this, next will be a warband level 6ed campaign game, then we are cooking on… Read more »
