About the Project
My brother had a Redemptionists gang for Necromunda back in the day. They went awol somewhere along the line, so for his 40th birthday I thought I would track down a ‘few models’ on eBay and put together a new warband for him as a gift that would be a nostalgic hit. Then I got a bit carried away...

The Colour of Fire and Blood
For presentation and storage I wanted something fitting for the vintage models. I found a box maker on eBay who sells boxes that are new but look quite vintage. The foam insert was from Tabletop Tyrant, cut to size. By cutting the rectangular foam “waste” blocks diagonally I was able to create inserts with a slope to hold the models and also make them more visible. And the brass plate was via a seller on Etsy. The quote is from the Ludmillan Dictates, part of the lore of the Redemptionists.
So the gift was given and it went down really well. For me it was also rewarding to undertake a project with a defined goal and target. The collection is complete and the work is done. That feels good and I want to do more projects like that. The Redemptionist models were also fantastic to work on. They have to be the most “40k” of all models GW has ever produced. If they ever revisit the faction I really hope they capture the wild, fanatical craziness that these old models convey so well. If they can’t then, in my opinion, best leave them be!
Bring on the Blanchitsu
Then just blocked in some colours, skin tones, silver for the metals etc. Not too much, just up to this level:
And that’s basically it, save for some small details, blood splatter, bases etc.
Do Not Suffer an Incomplete Collection to Live
So a few models became a collection, and a collection always needs completing, so go big or go home – like Pokemon – gotta collect ‘em all!
Bit of research helped with the list. eBay and some patience did the rest.
