THQ secures Warhammer 40K license for
April 26, 2011 by beerogre
It's good news for 40K fans. That giant of the digital realm, THQ, has secured a multi-year license to product more games featuring their stunning version of the 40K universe.
Brian Farrell, the President and SEO of THQ has said...
The complex, futuristic war-torn universe created by Games Workshop equipped THQ's award-winning development teams with the material to create one of the most loved PC franchises - Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War.
While word from Games Workshop's CEO, Mark Wells is...
The impressive translation of the Warhammer 40,000 universe from the tabletop to the video game space by THQ certainly highlights the potential of our most successful intellectual property in the right hands.
This all bodes well for the current 40K franchises and indeed for the potential that an expansion to the current range may be in the works.

Here’s hoping it comes to consoles!
Dawn of war is an RTS. Those dont go to consoles. Also THQ owns the company doing the MMO. Those dont go to consoles either. So they might do an entirely different game, which may or may not go to console.
that’s pretty bold. there are several rts’s for the new generation. mmo’s also go to console. DCOU, MAG, free realms…
What about the Command and Conquer series? They are on console, I know for a fact since I convinced a friend to get Red Alert 3 so we could do the campaign co-op style.
Also MMOFPS’ are fairly commonplace on consoles. MMORPGs are not.
Not too mention THQ owns Vigil Games, makers of Darksiders (the console game), so it’s not like they don’t own the talent or have the budget to make Dawn of War (or other 40k game) for console..
Space Marine is out for consoles soon, that might keep you happy
Love it, love it.
Now to bring in to DOW2 the other races so far they have missed in multi-player. I want all the Soulstorm races PLUS Grey Knights now. Bwahahaha!
Hopefully THQ sneaks a look at Firestorm Over Karuva to learn how to play balance more effectively in game terms.and add everything from the codexes.
i’ve heard it rumored that there will only be one more expansion for dow2, and that dow3 is in progress.
Dawn of War 3 is confirmed as being in development. I actually think that depending on how far along they are with 3, they will not need a further expansion to DoW2, but they may well do DLC for it in a similar vane of the Dark Angels pack.
maybe but i was always more of a fan of when there’s a random cross over to a different game like when you could download a mod to give you space marine armor or terminator armor in fallout 3

Do you have the ability to customize colors and logos in DoW2 like you were able to do in 1?
Yes. I don’t see why they would remove that.
TBH I’d almost rather Bioware had the licence instead so they could produce stellar rpgs set in the Old World and the Grimdark.
Oh yes, Mass effect 40k… mmmmmmm Vangaurd class.
Yeah… that’s great news and all, but I still don’t agree with the story-arc of DoW2, THQ please for the love of the gods, do ask GW before you make insane story-arcs… and thank you for making Gabriel Angelos the Chapter Master of the Blood Ravens. =P
