Mantic Games have got some awesome previews from their Digital Open Day to show off this week. Some of my favourites were for the new warbands options coming to Kings Of War and more specifically their Vanguard skirmish game.

Ratkin Warchief - Kings Of War Vanguard

The first model is one of the Ratkin Warchief above who looks awesome and a great leader for you to use when marshalling your Ratkin forces and marching out against the other factions in Pannithor.

This fellow is then joined by someone a little more underhanded and sneaky. Here we have the Ratkin Master Scurrier who is ready to get to straight to the killing!

Because of the way this fellow has been sculpted he could actually work as one of the Veer-Myn in Warpath as well as in Vanguard I reckon. All you'd need to do is tweak the painting and maybe add a few more Sci-Fi gubbins.

The last of the painted previews for Vanguard was this fellow, the Ratkin Warlock.

This chap looks suitably dangerous and probably slightly unhinged at the same time. I wouldn't have let him anywhere near something magical and powerful but sometimes you need someone slightly unhinged to play around with something as dangerous as magic.

We also got a look at another of the monstrous new options coming to the Ratkin to help flesh out their faction with the crazy Birthing Daughter.

The Ratkin are looking like a fun force to paint up and get stuck into when it comes to Vanguard and I could see plenty of folks who like playing as the quirky evil factions in their wargames being drawn to them. Hopefully, it won't be long until these creatures are on the tabletop!

Salamanders Getting Hot!

As well as the Ratkin we also have some new Salamander characters hitting the tabletop soon for Vanguard.

Salamander Clan Lord - Kings Of War Vanguard

Maybe you're drawn to the look of the growling Clan Lord with his twin-blades at the ready? He is covered in some exceptionally exotic looking armour which marks him out as someone you want on your side or someone to shoot from a long way away!

Talking of exotic armour, we also have this fellow as one of the Ceremonial Guard.

Again, this is a rather intricate looking miniature and I hope that all of that embedded detail comes across in the final product. If it does work then it will be a lot of fun to paint up with washes and highlights glowing from within!

Maybe you prefer glow effects? Well, this Salamander Mage Priest should offer up a chance to play around with that idea.

As well as being a really nice option for those who want to play a draconic/lizardman army on the tabletop, this is also good news for those people seeking out Dragonborn characters to throw into their D&D games too! It's always nice to see more characters like these popping up for use as unique roleplaying heroes.

Are you going to be checking out more from Vanguard when these factions launch?
