    https://www.dicebreaker.com/games/dungeons-and-dragons-5e/news/gale-force-nine-wizards-of-the-coast-lawsuit

“Gale Force Nine, maker of D&D minis and accessories for games including World of Tanks and the Doctor Who board game, has sued Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering publisher Wizards of the Coast in Washington state after months of licensing disputes between the two companies. The suit seeks $950,000 in addition to related costs and previously owed amounts.

GF9 said Wizards ceased any further approval of products in those markets following the licence disagreements. ”

Just from the summary, that sounds a lot like the lawsuit from Hickman and Weis vs. WotC.

I’d hate to speculate, but I wonder what’s going on.

It seems someone at WoTC legal doesn’t understand the concept of frustration of contract :p

It seems that the WoTC legal time are getting some great overtime at the moment.

Not only are they being sued by GF9 and the Dragonlance authors, but now ACD Distribution have filed a lawsuit.

ACD Distribution sues both Asmodee and Wizards of the Coast from boardgames

You don’t have to have the law on your side.
All you need is bigger pockets than your opponent … (especially if Hasbro is funding WoTC legal team)
As such I’m not sure if GF9 can win against WoTC.

Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was their attempt at GF9’s production just long enough (ideally past Christmas season) for any legal victory or loss to not matter any more.

Big businesses don’t play nice …

I do wonder where the recent WizKids announcements ( https://icv2.com/articles/news/view/47023/wizkids-reveals-massive-349-99-inn-miniatures-set-d-d-icons-realms ) tie into these shenanigans.

    *insert Opra meme here*

“You get a law suite! You get a law suite! You get a law suite! ”
