Revisit Helm’s Deep With Old Middle-earth Miniatures
November 16, 2020 by brennon
Games Workshop are going to be doing some looking back this weekend as pre-orders go live for a number of new Made To Order sets from the realm of Middle-earth. This time around they are looking to Helm's Deep and the forces of Good and Evil that clashed there.

The first of the sets is a bit of a doozy! This is one pack of miniatures that I was always eager to get my hands on but never got around to buying back in the day. Instead, I think I managed to get Aragorn and Legolas from a friend years later plus Gamling from the wonder that is eBay!
There are some stunning sculpts in this set and as many of us were probably a little too young to splurge on Middle-earth back then, this might be a good chance to get your hands on some of these excellent metal miniatures to use during your games.
Middle-earth's Heroes & Villains
As this range of miniatures is designed to explore the encounters from The Two Towers you've also got some mounted models for Gamling, Legolas and the like too during the Warg Attack!

Again, these are some brilliant sculpts which allow you to play out some of those cinematic moments from the movie. If you're like me and you enjoy the idea of painted miniatures to use for specific scenarios then these might be worth keeping an eye out for.

You could even get stuck into another of the diversions from the book and introduce Haldir's forlorn Elves into the mix to help defend Helm's Deep.

I was never overly taken by the Elves from the Games Workshop range but I do think that Haldir's clash with the Uruk-Hai atop the walls of Helm's Deep was pretty darn excellent. Hopefully, more folks will be able to see if they can help Haldir survive his encounter!
Also, any excuse to pick up this little vignette of Gimli sat atop the body of a dead Uruk-Hai must be seized upon!

On the villainous side of things, you've got the other half of the Warg Attack plus a band of Uruk-Hai Scouts which could be used to play out the final moments of Fellowship Of The Rings atop Amon Hen.

You might even want to put together the advance upon Helm's Deep and the battle outside the gate with the use of this battering ram too.

This is a really fun little set of miniatures that Games Workshop have been working to bring back from the crypt in order for us to play with once again. I'm sure there are some classic models from the old Middle-earth range that you'd like to pick up. If so, what are they?

I swear I’ve heard a Sam faint and a Ben screaming…
It’s good to see those miniatures back.
Ooh fabulous looking new figures.
Excellent. I always meant to pick up that version of Gamling without the standard and Legolas minus his passenger
Yes to all of these re-issues. To make the horse-masters complete I´d say Theodred is a good idea.
Legolas on horse and Haldir’s Elves are great, sadly Haldir can’t be bought seperately.
