Steamforged Reveal First Look At Bardsung Kickstarter Package!
November 6, 2020 by brennon
Steamforged Games has now revealed a massive look at what's coming to support their Bardsung Kickstarter which goes live 6pm GMT on November 10th!
Bardsung Core Box Contents // Steamforged Games
This game is a big ol' dungeon crawler which we've talked about in the past here OnTableTop. You'll take on the role of adventurous heroes and face down mighty goes in a game which brings together lots of the elements you enjoy from the likes of Dungeons & Dragons as well as classic Fighting Fantasy book.
Bardsung Heroes // Steamforged Games
As there are quite a lot of interesting elements to show off I'll just start diving in and revealing the stunning art and miniature design they have been unveiling over the last few hours.
Bardsung Wandering Monsters // Steamforged Games
As well as classic monsters like these you'll also be facing off against some seriously deadly foes in the form of mighty monsters. You can't have a dungeon delve without something terrifying and potentially party-killing at the end of it right?
Bardsung Crimson Hook Boss // Steamforged Games
Bardsung Duergar King Boss // Steamforged Games
Bardsung Ogre Boss // Steamforged Games
Bardsung Bugbear Shaman // Steamforged Games
If those bosses weren't enough to get you excited then it's worth also checking out the jewel in the crown of Bardsung. Here is their massive Greater Demon Boss who towers above the other miniatures in the set.
Bardsung Greater Demon // Steamforged Games
This is a pretty immense model and shows off just what Steamforged Games are trying to pack into this box. If you're interested in the actual contents of the Core Box and the pledge behind it then it's worth peeking at the list below...
- 66 high-quality miniatures:
- 5 x heroes
- 1 x Kickstarter exclusive hero
- 52 x enemies,
- 5 x wandering monsters,
- 4 bosses:
- Crimson Hook
- Ogre
- Duergar King
- Greater Demon
- Rulebook
- Adventure book
- 1 paper play mat
- Dice
- 795 cards (across 11 decks)
- Tokens
- 29 dungeon tiles
- 4 player dashboards
- Plus all unlocked stretch goals (including the Kickstarter exclusive Gladestrider hero, which has already been unlocked)
All of this comes in at the $99 mark as part of their Hero Pledge. As always with Kickstarter make sure to watch all of the videos, read the rules and learn more about the companies involved but this does sound like a darn good price for a dungeon-crawling experience with these miniatures and more in the mix.
Oh, and don't forget that Kickstarter Exclusive hero that is getting added in as well when the campaign launches...
Bardsung Kickstarter Exclusive Gladestrider // Steamforged Games
I am suitably impressed so far and I am looking forward to seeing what else the team at Steamforged Games are able to work into the Kickstarter. I am eager for some full gameplay videos and the like to give me a deeper look at the game and how it all works.
What do you think so far?

Wow they look brilliant an the greater demon is stupendous.
I was interested when I saw it first announced and even more so now.
The number of miniatures for $99 is impressive and that demon is huge… must be a very big box!
Like the centaur. Just hope the miniatures have as impressive detailing as the renders.
I assume Rust Monster is trademarked… hence Ferrous Maw.
Maybe they should talk to Hasbro and tell them how it’s done 😉
I’d be tempted to say that the quality is probably on par with their Gods’ tear minis, which are quite good if not quite Mythic/CMON standard.
Those are some great looking miniatures.
Hmmm. More models with a World of Warcraft/video game vibe to them. I must admit that’s a put-off for me. Maybe I’m just a grumpy old grognard though! (No “maybe” about it!!)
Well you are not alone, I don´t like the cartoon look either.
Awasome sculpt!
Blacklist Game’s Fantasy Series 1 has 200 mini’s for $125 on their Dire Alliance KS, but these sculpts look pretty good. Bandsung’s 2D tiles make it a good starter set for general RPG’ing. Any chance of a short article about how BS gameplay differs from other dice-chucking dungeoncrawlers for those of us who have KS fatigue? 😛
I think this looks great. Certainly better value than the newly announced Descent 3rd Edition.
I shall pick up a pledge.
I do like the tiles on the map idea… As for the rest we wait and see… hope they have gameplay videos on day one.. so many don`t..!
There’s a Virtual play-through on YouTube.
I like the the procedural elements of the game, laying tiles to get to treasure cards or the exit. That’s certainly fun.
The rules about the maximum number of models on a tile seem fuzzy. I hope that’ll be sorted out during the KS.
