Simple Miniature Games Purchased By Wayland Games
October 26, 2020 by crew
The UK wholesalers and distributor known as Simple Miniature Games (SMG) announced that the company is now under new ownership. Wayland Games are stepping in and working to take the company towards its next milestone.
SMG has been a stalwart of the industry for years and worked with many Friendly Local Gaming Stores (FLGS). The chances are, something in your tabletop collection has passed through their warehouses at some point.
Talking about the transitional period and the reasons for this change, Graham & Niki Clarke had this to say…
“The past year has proven really difficult especially given the circumstances surrounding Brexit and the global pandemic, it has put us under too much pressure. This industry of ours is evolving at a rapid pace and small distribution businesses like my own have had trouble keeping up. Wayland Games has thrived during these unprecedented times. I am happy and confident they will be providing you with the support you deserve as a customer, ensuring you will have access to an even greater range of top-selling products.”
Graham Clarke continued by saying…
“The main difference is that my wife Niki and I will not be on the other side of the phone/email, we’re worn out. You will now be assisted by the team at Wayland Games, who will be there to help you at every step of the way with your orders and anything else especially during this adjustment period.
I am really very grateful for all your custom throughout the years, whether you are a new customer, or have been with me for years: your support has been appreciated greatly and I’m sure it will continue to be with the team at Wayland Games.
From this point onwards, I will be signing off from SMG, and looking forward to something new. You will now be placed into the trustworthy hands of like-minded individuals, keen on watching the hobby industry flourish. All communications from this point forward will be with the new team operating SMG.”
SMG has added that the transition has been planned to be as easy as possible and valued customers will still go through the same process that they did before. All of the original email addresses, order forms and phone numbers can be used to reach the new team from Wayland Games.
Disclosure: OnTableTop and its companies are part of the group of companies owned and operated by Wayland Games Ltd since 12/10/2020.
Wow definitely a difficult time for companies in many ways especially all the little an family one’s
They sure are flexing their wallet at the moment.
Ready to be gobbled up by Asmodee soon?
Don’t say such things,i dread to think about it.
Asmodee are the disney of gaming industry… gobbling up everything…
And they are named after a demonic creature from mythology…
I thought that GW are Disney of gaming industry.
Sad news. The larger companies get larger and the smaller ones fade away. I think this COVID 19 is alot more harmful than anyone thought in terms of whats going to emerge afterwards. If only a few players, price will go up, quality and quantity will go down.
I expect we will see a lot more of this in the next 6 months+ and not just in the gaming industry, the “new normal” may change a lot of things. I’m sure this was not an easy decision for them to make but hopefully they will come out better for it.
