Hundred Kingdoms Army by nyckeau
We start off this week of Community Spotlight with a look at some fantastic looking Hundred Kingdoms miniatures by the super talented nyckeau. This is a great start to a big Hundred Kingdoms army to use in Conquest.
This is an impressive army which is known as The Host Of The Iron Wolf and shows off a really stunning scheme which blends together a really deep and rich red next to that burnished metal. The overall look is very striking and means that the miniatures stand out on the tabletop exceptionally well.
The army started off as you'll see below and has come together very nicely in such a short time. I think one of the most impressive things is how the army is tied together through a few different elements like the rich red and the grey basing in order to make it look coherent on the tabletop.
With this first part of the Hundred Kingdoms army coming together so quickly it would seem like a good idea to keep an eye on exactly what's next from nyckeau as we're moving on to that next stage of the Path Of Conquest. I would love to see how some of the more elite elements of this force will look in this particular scheme.
Spires Army by twodeesick
Next up, we're looking to the work of twodeesick who has painted up some fantastic looking Spires miniatures for use in Conquest. twodeesick is a veteran of Conquest already but has taken the time to dive into this new force as part of the ongoing creative endeavour we're all on.
Much like with the scheme above from nyckeau you do get a sense that colour choices and style match closely with the artwork from Para Bellum's world. I really like the slightly more muted scheme that twodeesick has gone for here though which allows for splashes of colour but also means that the focus shifts towards the bone as that core feature.
Things have been going very well for twodeesick when it comes to the building of this army and you can see how the core troops, characters and even that monstrous Abomination have come to life in expert fashion. I would perhaps do a little more with the basing here as I'm never a fan of just plain black but otherwise these look fantastic. I particularly like the beetle-like sheen to the armour on the Abomination and how it emphasises one of the colours chosen on the heroes.
Dweghom Army by danlee
Finally, we're looking towards the forces of the Dweghom and the work by danlee as he builds up the start of this burly and bearded force. The first of the core troops have had their coat of paint and are looking great.
I always say that beards maketh the miniature when it comes to Dwarves (or Not-Dwarves) and the deep red here works well in contrast to the slate-grey armour and the off white clothing. Working in that spotlight of bronze/gold also helps draw the eye to the weapons and makes the miniatures pop a little more too.
There has been a fair bit of painting going on so far with this project but some characters are next on the painting block. Characters and more units are on the way and I thought it would be neat to show off the cleaned up miniatures in their bare plastic/resin here.
These miniatures truly are immense and it's cool to see them like this before they've been painted. It gives you an idea of what you have to work with and where the focus should be when you come to painting these yourself. The same thing applies to the troops as you'll see here.
Because of the detailed natures of these miniatures, they should take very, very well to a good base coat followed by some washes. You wouldn't even need to do too much highlighting unless you were really into it. Of course, you could also check out the painting tutorials from John where he shows how to paint them quickly using Contrast Paints. Find those HERE.
