Lob Rockets With New Soviet Options For Flames Of War
October 9, 2020 by brennon
Battlefront Miniatures has got another batch of new sets coming out this weekend for the Soviets of Flames Of War. Prepare for more armour (what a surprise!) to help you stick it to the Axis and force them off the battlefield.

We start with the SU-76 Light SP Battery. Running with the theme of cheap and simple, this was a way to outfit even more armour which could roll forward alongside tanks and infantry. With a big gun on the front, they were very "point and click". Keep your eyes on those open sights and start blasting Germans away.
If you're interested in doing more blasting then you've also got this Katyusha Guards Rocket Battery set too.

The Red Army was reportedly the world leaders in rocketry and so decided to strap these weapons onto the back of trucks. These batteries were used to saturate a large area with explosives which would pin down enemies and cause massive amounts of casualties. They weren't the most accurate of weapons but who needs to hit when you can just keep firing and cross your fingers?
"Tanks, Lots Of Tanks"
You can also pick up a lot more tanks for your Soviet army too. At the head of this weekend's releases, we have the Valentine Tank Company.
Valentine Tank Company // Flames Of War
The British and the Canadians shipped around 3000 Valentine Tanks to the Soviet Union during the lend-lease and this helped bolster their lines as they battle the Germans. Valentines were not very fast but they were well-armoured and good for long sorties across the wilderness. When the Soviets stopped building light tanks they relied on the Valentines to fill the gaps in their lines.
You can also roll out a new KV Tank Company this weekend...

This was one of the most heavily-armoured tanks in the world and came with 120mm thick steel armour on its turret. There was little chance that any enemy tanks or anti-tank guns even stood a chance of blasting through that.
Finally, we have a familiar T-70 Tank Company option for the Soviets.

The T-70 used an automobile engine to get it fired up and was (again) easily manufactured and churned out of the Soviet factories. With no need for a dedicated factory to make it a possibility, it became another of options the Soviets could roll out onto the battlefield in immense numbers.
Are you tempted by these new options from Battlefront Miniatures?

Fab editions to a Soviet army the light tanks are great for scouting an protecting the flanks.
I’d be interested to know what mark of Valentine that kit goes up to; the Russians did have the versions with the biggest guns, after all.
