Raise The Dead In Oathmark’s Oathbreakers Expansion
October 5, 2020 by brennon
Osprey Games have another expansion sorted for the tail end of 2020 (fingers crossed!) beyond what's available in Battlesworn. Oathbreakers not only introduces the undead to the battlefield but also new options for other aspects of the mass battle wargame of Oathmark too.
Oathbreakers // Oathmark: Battles Of The Lost Age
In this book, you'll find options for introducing cunning Necromancers into your games, summoning the dead from their unquiet graves in order to break the worlds of Men, Dwarves, Elves, Goblins and Orcs.
As well as finding ways to summon the dead for nefarious means you'll also find the flip side of the coin is addressed too. I addition to their being a focus on skeletal hordes and shambling zombies you'll also find ways to theme your undead allies so that they are wise and valiant ancestor spirits, raised from their catacombs to defend your city in its time of need. Summoning the dead doesn't need to be a ghastly experience after all!
As well as the rules for the undead you'll also find ways for you to build on progression elements for characters much like Battlesworn did for units. So, you'll be able to chart your general's progress from fledgeling captain through to grizzled veteran throughout your campaigns.
Oathbreakers was set for a release in November but it could be pushed back with the whole pandemic thing still ongoing. We shall see when next month rolls around.
Are you eager to introduce the undead into the mix?

Supposed to be a set of armoured skeleton warriors released alongside this book (no teaser images of these floating around the internet …. yet). We’re also waiting to see the cav options to appear for the Elves and Humans (and presumably the undead now). But what I’m hoping to see is if Northstar/Osprey do a new set of plastic fantasy Ghouls/Zombies (as there isn’t a set of plastics out that fit 28mm AND look good (and not like they were produced 20 years ago). The Mantic ones are probably the top of the pile atm, but the issue here is… Read more »
“Supposed to be a set of armoured skeleton warriors released” – SOLD!
Well the Northstar mini’s do usually closely follow the artwork in the various games. Not sure about that buckler that seems to be taped to their chest. But other than that, I’d expect them to basically look like what you see on that book cover Lloyd (complete with the conical helms) 🙂

Undead Iberians perhaps?
Will be nice to see none human undead say Ork or Goblins even Ogres.
Get the Zombicide Green Horde game and you will have zombie orcs to your hearts delight. I did…was not disappointed. I imagine rebasing is in their future if the grandsons continue to want to play Oathmark…
Ooh nice never seen that game thanks for the head’s up I’ll keep a look out for that one.
Im very interested, how undead will work!
The title Oathbreakers has got to be a reference to the Dead Men of Dunharrow. It makes perfect sense. When they fought for Aragorn in the battle of the fields of Ithilien their debt was considered fulfilled. Their oath kept. Finally they could find rest.
Undead were definitely MIA in Oathsworn as a faction choice – so I am very glad to see this announced – its a definite purchase for me
