So 25 power level (PL) is the starting PL our gaming group is going to use to get us used to 9th ed (most haven’t played in a few editions)

First thoughts is that 25PL is not a lot. I’m aiming for a scout patrol detachment as that fits the bill and is pretty much all I can afford.

I want to pack in plenty of boyz As I feel that’s the strength of the Orks. So I’ve gone for a mob of 20 and a mob of 10. Idea is to cover off more objectives and not have all my green crazy eggs in one basket.

Next I wanted something that could take care of some heavier targets, and fortunately I had already found and printed some mek Gunz which fit the bill nicely. So two of these it is and for 3 PL each they’re not too expensive.

Next I went looking for a HQ. Warbosses are fun but with my current list I need a bit of maneuverability (I cant even afford a truck!). While I could trek across the map on foot with a Mek with a kustom force field I like the idea of a weirdboy throwing random psychic energy around the battlefield.  The fact that it can use da jump to shoot a mob of boyz across the board is just a nice bonus.

I now have 3 PL left which after the recent PL and points increases doesnt leave many options. Luckily Kommandos are 3 PL For 5 sneaky gitz. As infiltrators that can grab objectives they can get in my opponent’s back field early on and start disrupting their plans.

So that’s the list

1 Weirdboy

20 Boyz

10 Boyz

2 Mek Gunz

5 Kommandos

I’ll be playing fairly casually with this list, I want to have fun with it and give it a bit of narrative rather than be really gamey. I also dont want to spend too much money on this army as I’m still not convinced 40k will be a regular game i play (or can afford to play!)

Next is to see what my opponent’s bring and how I can deal with it. First fight will be against some sisters of battle. May Gork be with me (or is it Mork?)

Waaaaagh!
