Mark Of War Taking Tabletop Wargames To The Digital World

Mark of War is looking to bring the world of tabletop wargaming to the digital realm on PC and Mac. This means exactly what you might thing. Full on pushing regiment trays full of 'miniatures' around on a digital tabletop where armies clash...
As you can see it looks like a full on clash of mighty armies all set up to mirror the experience of the real tabletop game but with none of the setting up. You'll be rolling buckets of dice, pushing regiments around, and even watching each side duke it out with fully animated combats too. This does sound rather cool. Check out some of the art for the armies below...
The game has also been developed alongside the mind of Gav Thorpe who has helped with the world building and much more. It will be interesting to see how much of the tabletop experience translates well to the digital realm and if they can nail this one down!

They should aim for a iOS version, much more portable.
Ohhhh the possibilities 🙂 , a pitty it will never be moddable. Looks like a very good platform for bringing other Tabletops to life.
Like all wargames its going to be how the game plays rules wise rather than any fancy graphics etc
Nice idea though. At least Gav Thorpe wont have to worry about punctuation in a computer game

I’m somewhat conflicted on this one. On the one hand, it seems like a good idea, but it takes away a big chunk of the hobby i.e. the mini’s and putting together big armies. Also, if I’m going to play a medieval or fantasy scrum on the computer, I’ll go with Medieval Total War II or its LOTR derivative. Just my own preference.
Not for me, if I want to pc game I will go for graphics, if I want to tabletop game will be real minis. This kinda sit in between and ticks neither box for me. Still if people enjoy it, all good
Looks cool but what rulesets are going to be available? They do anything GW related and they’ll get sued quickly. Maybe the mantic guys would let these guys run free with their ranges though. There have been some much more rudamentary systems like this before and they always got a quick C&D letter from GW. Not that GW has always been victorious … but something like this … if they build digital models of GWs stuff on a one to one basis I don’t think it would be hard for GW to get them shut down. Going to have to go with cpauls1, the total war series of games provides what is essentially a digital equivalent of tabletop wargaming and with the sheer number of mods available provides an almost endless number of settings. Sorry but I don’t think this is for me.
