Popularised by Michael Caine in the film A Bridge Too Far, Brigadier Vandeleur was a British army officer in World War II. This metal miniature comes in two varieties. One for commanding on the ground and the other for tactical jeep sitting. Most importantly the former comes armed with a mug of tea!
Will you be adding Joe to your British force?

Would make a nice commanded for Bolt Action – I assume scale is 28/30mm?
yes he is, he should be perfect for BA
I have the Warlord version of Mr Vandeleur as part of a set which includes his car. It is worth it, I mean to have him with his car.
However, the Stoessi miniatures are way better than the Warlord one and I think it is incredible that it comes in two versions. Please, Mr Lyons, get the car and paint Vandeleur as best you can and show us what an excellent painter can achieve.
If you paint both you might do one as Vandeleurs brother, who I believe also took part in operation Market Garden.
I would love to see any more additions to the tank god series, do the armoured car. Might be a good oportunity to show some tutoring to as I’m guessing the weathering to an armoured car would be less than a tank on the line. Could be a good one for a scenic base or mini dio.
Yeah, you need the armoured car.. I have a few of the Stoessi miniatures and they’re great sculpts, and well cast pieces. Anyone who plays WW2 in 28mm should pick some up for their army.
you need a reason to add to your Irish guards?
of course you need his humber! as memory serves he wore corduroy trousers instead of battledress
can’t remember if it was Joe or Gyles Vandeleur that had a humber with a speaker system mounted to it ala Oddballs sherman, the men were “terribly upset” when it was destroyed before market garden, what a shame…
Get in! Bridge Too Far is one of my favourite films, also happen to know a bloke who’s dad was a para in Arnhem. Find the whole campaign fascinating so I’ll deffo be getting my mitts on Joe.
Your only ment to blow the bloody turrets off Lol
Great looking figures as is the rest of the set that I’ve seen
