Studio Tomahawk has announced a new entry into the SAGA series. Age Of Hannibal will take you back to Ancient times and the battles between the major powers that existed during that period. That means Carthage, Rome, Gaul and more!

As the infographic says above (and in the trailer!) you'll see that the new book is going to contain six new Battle Boards, new special rules and equipment, mercenaries, ruses and also something called SAGA Epic. Epic allows you to play out large-scale battles using the SAGA rules which is very fitting considering the period.
SAGA: Age Of Hannibal Armies
In terms of the actual armies you're going to get to play as; you have all manner of interesting options...
SAGA Carthaginians // Studio Tomahawk
SAGA Republic Of Rome // Studio Tomahawk
SAGA Gauls // Studio Tomahawk
SAGA Iberians // Studio Tomahawk
SAGA Numidians // Studio Tomahawk
SAGA Graeculi // Studio Tomahawk
There are plenty of miniatures out there from various companies which would be perfect for you to use in this game. I'm sure that you'll also see some new miniatures coming out from the likes of Gripping Beast to support this as well.
Are you tempted to dive in and check out this new option for SAGA which gives things an Ancient spin?

Gripping Beasts already have some lovely Gauls up for sale… not sure if they are older sculpts re-released or new ones (they just weren’t for sale a few months ago).
Really, really looking forward to this book.So this means my SPQR stuff can slip into another system ?
Very much so. In my case it’s telling me to get on with those Carthaginians I got in for Clash.
Actually now I come to think of it they’re the Carthaginians I got in for Impetus. I am a disgrace to the hobby!
Saaagaaaaa
Eeepiiic Saaagaaaa!
And ROUND bases instead of square ones …
Someone is not going to like that 😉
Base them how you like ??
true … but the pictures prove that round bases are superior 😉 😀
I can feel a visit to Blackpyramid coming on,need more Spartans for a Graeculi force, bolstered by some of Warlords Hail Caesar Greeks.
Clearly ancients is where it’s at right now.
Need help chosing which factions and models can be reused across various recent systems in terms of periods and suitability:
– This, SAGA AoH
– Clash of spears
– Infamy, infamy,
– Mortem et Gloriam
– SPQR
– 40K (surely some mistake?)
– what else have I missed?
Naked barbarians…. Barbarians always fit in.
Gangs or Rome ?
Mortal Gods!
Oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god!!!!!
YAAAAASSS!! Get in ya beauty!!
Excited for this then @bigdave ? 😀
Absolutely! Love Saga, love my ancients – winning combination! Besides, just bought PSC’s 15mm Imperial Romans and Celts so the mass battle rules have really got me going
nice an I bet Gerry has them all on order?
I imagine @avernos has all the tiny fighting men needed to cover all six of the factions, just waiting to be built and painted.
Is that possible for Gerry to have enough figures for games? Lol
I have 4 of the 6 that are fieldable now, with the remaining two being part of existing CoS forces, so I could expand them
I wouldn’t expect anything less from a tiny fighting men maestro such as yourself sir 🙂 .
Lol.
All I can say is YYYYYYEEEEESSSSSSS!
‘Bashes sword against shield then blows carnyx until blue in the face’.
Vitrix is going to get a battering.
Well, Ive got plenty of Gauls and the Greeks I’ve done so far for Clash of Spears will do a 4pt warband already 🙂
Interested in the Epic mode.
Those are really nice.
