Come and join us for another delve into the Projects to find the best of the best from the last week or so. We're going to be getting stuck into lots of great looking miniature wargaming painting and hobbying this week...

Blood Raven Primaris by doctorether

The first of the projects we're looking at this week comes from doctorether who has been continuing to paint miniatures from the grimdark future of Warhammer 40,000. The latest miniatures to move from the painting table to a glorious backdrop were these Blood Raven Primaris Space Marines.

These miniatures were painted up using 90% Contrast Paints and just shows what you can do with the range if you set your mind to it. The red is rich and matches well to their classic armour colour whilst also looking good next to those cream white shoulder pads.

As well as the Space Marines looking good, the bases are also quick and easy but very effective. As I always say, the base helps to frame the miniature and the use of the blue alien grass helps to draw the eye and also highlight the deeper and darker red of their armour. Some very cool miniatures for an awesome Chapter in the Warhammer 40,000 lore.

If you wanted to know how these folks were painted then you can check out a list on the project above. It would be neat to see if you could replicate this or perhaps show off alternative ways in which Contrast Paints can be used to make your miniatures pop.

Gloomwood Eyrie by wolf320f

Next up, we're moving to a special project because this was a gift for wolf320f's sisters birthday. The terrain piece that was chosen was the Gloomwood Eyrie from Printable Scenery and this particular piece has come out very nicely indeed.

Themed and painted to match the kind of buildings that you see in The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit and with a little hobby edge to it, this is a pretty fantastic looking piece of terrain. I love the choice of warm colours throughout the entire model to give it a very homely feel and the little spots of colour here and there. The little mushrooms, strings of flowers and bright green foliage on the roof really help to make this piece pop.

You can follow the route towards its completion over on the project link above. There are a few hints and tips in there about getting something like this printed but I think you'd agree, this is a wonderfully finished piece of terrain and a lovely gift. I would love to have one of these situated somewhere in my collection for Burrows & Badgers, perhaps as the home of a wizard or sage who has tried to escape from civilisation.

I think this terrain piece is going to go down well as a gift and should take pride of place on the mantlepiece! Have you tried painting some of the Printable Scenery range?

Necromunda Conversions by cyfi

Finally, we're looking at a project which is very much a work-in-progress it seems. cyfi has been tinkering around with some conversions for Necromunda and I wanted to highlight their project in hopes of getting them to come back to do more work on it! Here are some of the excellent conversions that they have already done for the collection.

Necromunda is a game which is rife for conversion opportunities and personalisation. I love that people can raid their bitz box, do a bit of sculpting and bring some fascinating characters to life. This lady here looks super powerful and terrifying to behold, her outstretched and gnarled hand signalling her attempt to destroy you with her mind.

The same goes for this conversion here, a brilliant piece which goes down the route of House Escher but also brings in some pretty awesome wilderness/Amazonian-style vibes with the headdress and accessories which have been included alongside her regular armour. Again, this would be brilliant to see painted up and made ready for gaming.

There are a few more bits and bobs on the project link above from cyfi including two of the finished gangs that they have been working on. Much like with the conversion work above, there is place of individuality lots of uniqueness to the paint schemes here. They would certainly stand out on the tabletop.

Both House Escher (above) and House Goliath (below) have that dash of colour and element of "punk" which I love about Necromunda and makes it such an interesting game to play and be involved with. You really get to step beyond the traditional grimdark colours of muddy browns and steel to try something a bit different with an edge.

I tip the hate to cyfi for the work on the House Goliath models in particular, especially given the rainbow straps and bright pink armour. I don't think that anyone would mess with these fellows or laugh at their outfits for fear of getting their head ripped off! Also, as I always say, the bases here look great and help bind the collection together and route it within a particular setting.

Hopefully, we see more conversion work from cyfi soon and those miniatures painted up!
