Marvel: Crisis Protocol
We. Are. Venom.
Real life has been rather busy, so I haven’t had much time to paint lately, but I finally managed to get Venom ready to go.
A couple things I learned with him. All of the practice painting black that I did on Black Widow, Black Panther and Thor really helped with getting down the shading. However, my main take away with him is that after I had finished Hulk I realized that I didn’t care for how I had shaded his muscles. I made every muscle do a basic highlight up top to a shade down below. However, with some muscles this doesn’t actually look right. For instance, the shoulder muscles on Venom you can see that I intentionally shaded them like malformed cylinders, with the highest parts of light a little less than halfway down each muscle. This looks a lot more natural than what I did with the Hulk. So I tried this approach when highlighting Venom and I think the results are quite an improvement.
Overall I’m really happy with him. As usual, the pictures muddy up the shading a bit and blur out some of the detail, but I’ll have to get myself a better photo set up once real life settles down a bit.
Super project so far, your figures look great!
Thank you. I’ve been really happy with how much my painting has progressed during this project.
