Basically,  stores have been alocated all the copies they are getting… and some stores are having thier numbers cut already.

Looks like no store gets more then 45 copies?  I would assume if you dont have it pre-ordered already through your FLGS, then you wont get one from them?

GW – “There will be loads of them”

    Same old same old.

they said both “there will be loads” … but it will be ‘limited’.
They didn’t emphasize it … but they did mention it.
So technically they have said enough.

That still does not explain how a ‘pre order’ for a product can be limited at all, because that’d be the entire idea of the ‘pre order’ culture the industry has used.

I was seriously thinking of coming back to 40k, as well.

Now I am just shaking my head.  I dont have a FLGS and the chances of me getting one of these boxes is slim to nil.   Which has me thinking if this is how all the big boxsets are going to go, then there is less incentive for me.

It is a shame.  Push like hell for all this huge PR for a new edition.  Then not meet the demand you raised.

It’s the whole “Sisters of Battle” box set all over again. Yup, it WILL sell out in pre-order AND there’s going to be frustrated customers (yet again). FOMO strikes again, and one of the maddening things is how GW try and spin the “FOMO is a GOOD thing” (see article below)

    https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/04/27/garfys-patriarch-and-other-projects/

I do wish that the head bods at GW would stop listening to the marketing dept and just RELEASE minis (with no limited availability, or “only available for a limited time” (see another article below that made my blood boil as it’s actually using the term FOMO to urge customer to buy at GW’s whim (rather than the customers)).

    https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/04/18/know-no-fomo-order-2-heroes-for-just-2-weeks/

Just stop with the silly marketing and artificially forced FOMO to drive sales (like do GW REALLY need to do that? They seem to sell pretty well)

A shame as they are a company I really would like to support. I like the 40k setting, they manufacture in the UK, and the models are fun to build and paint. For me the FOMO marketing, and the lack of innovation in the rules makes this a no go.

TBH they seem to be at the stage of just wringing their existing customers and not bothered about getting new folks in to their bit of the hobby.

I take it that the OTT store allocation has been snapped up. I was on the wait list, got an email this morning at 0155hrs. Followed the link when I woke up at 0700hrs only to be sent to a page that no longer exists. Also no sign of it on the store. Oh well, looks like I’ll be heading over to GW and join the chaos there then ?

Correction to my last, it’s just popped up for preorder on the OTT shop. And it’s showing they have way more than 45 copies available guys. I’d much rather give my hard earned cash to OTT than GW. £128.50 with postage.

I find it hard to believe people keep falling for GW bullshit, reskin the same game again and again, make it hard for people to get it and everyone’s clamouring for the same marines same necrons more fluff. It’s also very expensive wish people would wake up, there are plenty of other well supported games out there just take off your GW rosey goggles and tell them to feck off

OTT store showing 93 available, which seems odd if GW are limiting stock to 45 per store.

Edit – Now showing me 228 in stock. I think the OTT store stock level is being a bit odd.

    Just ordered mine from OTT.

Some stores are offering 2nd wave shipments at the beginning of August. (Goblin Gaming, Element Games)

Bit fishy if you ask me as all stores were only getting a certain amount, and what’s the deal with charging full price, no discount?

Supply and demand in action, or profiteering depending on how you look at it.

Oh well, it still a good deal.

I see GW are showing the box set as unavailable at 10:15 when i looked, it seems very odd that this is limited run. Did they get burned before by making something that didn’t sell?

Looks like GW have banned online stores giving discounts on this box.

Element Games has a 1 per customer and collect from store only (in Stockport).

Wayland Games website seems to be down.

This is standard GW procedure. Create hype, then artificial scarcity of the box set, makes the ones who get it feel special, which makes them more invested in the game, which means GW can bleed them dry over time with more and more expensive miniatures.

I thought GW had turned a corner over the last few years, but the lack of real innovation in the latest iteration of the rules along with the usual GW marketing machine makes it clear this is not the case.

The great thing is that there are so many great games and great games companies to support that avoiding the ones you don’t like (Asmodee, GW, Mythic etc.) still leaves plenty of choice 🙂
