Hitch a Lift in Pardulon’s Long Tailed Boat
August 3, 2014 by dracs
Pardulon Models are taking your gaming to the sea as they bring out their new Long Tailed Boat.
This boat is well suited to navigating twisting rivers or stretches of rocky coastline. It is the sort that you could easily imagine showing up in a pulpy action movie, an impression only enhanced by the gun on the back. All in all it is a good looking piece of kit, serving as either terrain or an integral part of the game in and of itself.
Will you come aboard Pardulon's boat?
I believe that ‘gun’ is the engine and long drive shaft… thus the name of the boat.
Yeah, that is no gun… You’ll see them all over the place if you go to Thailand.
I would go with @cpauls1 that is the engine & propshaft a lot of boats that go through shallow or chocked rivers are powered like that to save the prop from damage by lifting over debris in the water.
Type long-tailed boat into a search engine and you will better understand the way of positioning the engine.
I’m on the internet which means whatever I say is right, and I say that thing that is quite obviously an engine which I can’t believe I was stupid enough to mistake for a gun is a gun!
An anti submarine gun ? 🙂
This is going back a spell, but didn’t someone try to kill James Bond aka Roger Moore with the business end of that shaft?
Man with the Golden gun. I think
Man With a Golden (Prop) Shaft
Actually, a miniature like this would be hella-useful in a Flames of War Tour of Duty Vietnam game, depending on the scale, of course.
Looks 28mm, judging by the detail in the miniatures, but I could be wrong. Couldn’t tell at a glance on the website.
My first thought was it would be perfect for a FOW Vietnam game too, but it’s definitely in the 25-28mm range given that it’s nearly 20cm (8 inches) long.
Would love to see a 15mm scale version.
Oh, too bad about the scale difference. Maybe we could just say it’s a really big boat! 🙂
You could still use it as a barge? @oriskany
Probably, @zorg . I mean, it’s not like it would be a combat unit in the game, more for scenery or perhaps an objective an an “Apocalypse Now” type game.
Or a gun platform like at Remagen (Ludendorff Bridge) perhaps? @oriskany .
Mortars, maybe. I don’t think I’d want to be shooting anything with lateral recoil off that rickety wooden thing. 🙂 Rockets would also be a bad idea, the backblast would char the wooden hull to a cinder. 😀
It’s what blast plates are for, like those used on rocket carrying ASR Fairey Swordfish and Hurricane MkIVs
Or recoilless guns would work
