Wizkids have previewed their upcoming set for Marvel HeroClix Battlegrounds: Avengers Vs Masters Of Evil. Which I think we can all agree is one hell of a title for a set. The Avengers team up to take on a set of their mightiest foes in a jam-packed starter set for Heroclix. With everything you need to get into playing Heroclix, Avengers Vs Masters of Evil, contains two teams of pre-painted miniatures pitted against each other across the streets of America.

Heroclix Battlegrounds: Avengers vs Masters of Evil

The box set contains everything you need for up to four players to get involved in playing in the Marvel universe. There are four full colour Battleground maps, with all the terrain, deployment zones and buildings colour coded onto the grid to make gameplay as easy as possible to get into. There are, of course, all the tokens, cards, and dice required to play the game including bystanders for scenario play. The core rules contain 8 scenarios to play through and 2 sets of cards for the miniatures, the first set is geared towards new players and then the second set for when you get your teeth into the game and want to explore more of the game play.

Heroclix: The Avengers

The Avengers feature Captain America, Black Widow, Iron Man, Hulk, and Captain Marvel. A line up that thanks to the movies will be instantly recognisable to any player, whether they are comic book fans or not. The renders look good enough based on the classic looks of the characters down to Cap having that blue scaled armour on the chest of his costume. The prototypes look like they've caught enough of that detail and for the price and prepainted miniatures they're more than good enough.

Heroclix: Masters of Evil

The Masters of Evil includes Mach-X, Baron Zemo, Red Skull, Winter Soldier, and Ultron. For non-comic fans Mach-X is going to be exciting and new, and while I love the Red Skull and Winter Soldier it's this character that I genuinely like the most for the villains. Despite starting as an adversary for the Fantastic Four as the Beetle, he eventually became Mach-1 using stolen tech passed to him by Justin Hammer. He became a fake hero as part of a plot to gain access to S.H.I.E.L.D. files but eventually grew to want to be a hero and he has a great redemption arc...but I digress, here he is in stolen tech his Mobile Armored Cyber-Harness.

For comic fans the Heroclix Battlegrounds games are a lot of fun, with Marvel and DC covered equally well and this new box set is ideal for getting fans of the Marvel movies into gaming in a light way but still having plenty of depth for dedicated gamers. No word on when it is available to order but hopefully it won't be long before Earth's Mightiest Heroes can take on the Masters of Evil.

Which member of the Thunderbolts is your favourite?
