Dust Studios have previewed the first of the new style of infantry boxes for Dust 1947. Due out in September the first release will be a mercenary squad box to flesh out the range which currently only has one option for infantry. This new box set will allow you to field three new unit options, or if you pick up a second that expands to seven which I think we can all agree is a big improvement over one choice.

Dust 1947 Mercenaries & Plans

The box sees a change in how Dust Studios is planning on future Infantry releases for 1947. The box contains 7 figures and all the cards required for any of the unit options you may want to field in your force.  The People's Liberation Army is next after the Mercenaries and will mark the real birth of this faction, and we can probably use the Mercs as a blueprint for these future releases. The units allow you to build either infantry squads with optional support weapons or if you pick up a second box then you can field support squads with specific roles, like Anti-Tank or Anti-Air.

Whether you need anti-infantry, anti-tank, or anti-aircraft, these Mercs got you covered. This new box is a great way to start an all-Mercenary force. They started with a support role for the other Factions & Blocs, but now they don't need anybody else to go to war!

Fallschirmjager A/T Missile Squad

If September is too far away for you to get your fix of Dust 1947 then Axis fans rejoice as the Fallschirmjäger have received some Anti-Tank support this week with a missile squad. When the boots hit the ground they need as much fire support as they can. The Fallschirmjäger Anti Tank Missile Squad allows your forces to engage armoured targets from a relatively safe distance, but is also very efficient against infantry and has amazing accuracy thanks to its wire-guided rule.

So whether you are looking to build a full Mercenary force for 1947 or just support your current faction with some throwaway guns for hire this box set looks like it should cover all the bases. I'm keen to see how Dust Studios take this change forward with their future releases and hopefully help expand the world of Dust far beyond the current factions.

What do you think of the Mercs in Dust '47?
