Take To The Skies & Crusade With New Flames Of War Releases
June 19, 2020 by brennon
Battlefront Miniatures have a selection of new releases for you this week which help you bolster British forces in World War II and Flames Of War. This week, they are taking to the skies and trundling across the muddy fields of Normandy too.

We start things off with some excellent looking aircraft for those rushing into battle and in need of air support. These planes offered close air support and the black and white stripes seen on the wings and fuselage here were painted on to stop the Allies accidentally shooting them during the massed invasion of Normandy.
Keeping with the theme of aircraft, we also have something a little less "shooty" in the mix too. Here we have the Auster OP Observation Post.

These light planes were used to try and keep an eye on what was happening across the battlefield from the air. They might not have been able to deliver a blow against the enemy but they could be of great use when trying to seek out ambushes and the movements of enemy formations.
Flames Of War; Armoured Assaults
As well as the planes which are out this week, we also have some options which are good for Anti-Tank and Anti-Air purposes. The first of these is the Crusader AA Troop.

If you're looking to play around with the use of AA in your games then you don't just need the mobile options like the Crusader AA. You can also check out the

You can also punch a hole in the enemies tank line with the thanks of the M10 SP Anti-tank Platoon. There were many different pieces of armour that were pushed to the front during the Late-War period and all of them played their part.

Are you tempted to pick up these new miniatures for use in your British armies as they start to push through Normandy and into the rest of France as you seek to free the country from the grip of the Axis?

fabulous new additions.
I would have thought they would have gone for a hybrid M10 and Archer (17 Pdr) upgrade sprue box set to keep the catalogue code down (help out your local retailer). As is, would it be better waiting for the eventual Archer Box set (so you can build both)?
You can bulit both variants. The one with the muzzle break is the 17 pdr.
Or is there a 17 pdr version that is not the Archer?
It’s Achilles (my fault I’m always getting them mixed up). Not quite if you’re rivet counting, the M10s we have here have the “wedge” counterweight at the back of the turret and the M10s that were converted to use the 17 Pdr have the “Duckbill” counterweights (as the balance worked out better).
I think the old resin offerings from Battlefront gave you the option of which counterweight to use. However the British still used a lot of M10’s with the 3″ gun so you can still use the box fine (and for Achilles if you’re not being pedantic 😀 )
Tiffy’s yeah!
Nuff said!
Yay. I can finish my D-Day Army now.
