Wild Halflings & Walrus Riders Coming Soon From TTCombat!
June 11, 2020 by brennon
I bet you've considered making a Halfling army before right? Well, TTCombat has turned things up to eleven with their teaser of what's coming for their own Fantasy Halfling range soon. Shieldmaidens, Walrus Riders and War Bears are going to be stomping onto your tabletop!
Halfling Shieldmaidens // TTCombat
First up, we have this band of rather wild-looking Halfling Shieldmaidens who are going to be protecting your village from raiders and the like. The regiment comes with options to arm your Halflings with a selection of different hand weapons as well as those big round shields for forming a shieldwall. You've also got a command element in there with a Champion, Standard Bearer and Musician in the mix.
If you thought that that unit was cool, wait until you see the Walrus Riders!

Who would have guessed that massive Walrus would be the way to build up the cavalry for your Halfling force? These massive creatures are pretty vicious when they get riled up and with plenty of tusks bearing down on you, I'd imagine you'd be pretty spooked! Again, you have the core of your cavalry here as well as a command element which is leading them into battle.
Finally, for this Halfling army with a spin, we also have the War Bears!
Halfling War Bears // TTCombat
I have always considered building an army which is nothing but bears. Seriously, it would be made up of bears when it came to troops, leaders and all! These might be a good shout for that kind of idea or as a thundering line breaker option in your force. These bears are certainly well-loved considering the armour they are wearing and the gems which have been added to the designs. Perhaps the gems hold magical power which amplified their potential on the battlefield?
What do you make of these rather fun new options for Halfling generals?

The bears and walrus cavalry are my favourites.
They are fantastic looking.
Walrus Cavalry…a thing I never knew I needed until now 🙂
Just as @avernos has nearly finished his Rabbit riders as well…
I knew they were coming and saw the Kickstarter. But thankfully I hate the look of the TT halflings so it was never going to effect me
Walruses aren’t exactly the most fleet of mounts, but I like the idea that they could be an amphibious unit. Regardless, the walrus models are great, as are the armoured bears.
Hobbits like cats… they don’t like getting their fur wet!
Or maybe they shouldn’t be fed after midnight and kept away from water… I get my small annoying furry animals confused at times!
Those are really nice. Gotta love some armored bears and walruses.
Walrus cavalry? Okay, that is the most ridiculous idea for a cavalry unit I’ve seen since the snail riders in Panzerfauste…I’ll take three.
Oh gawds those bears. Apparently I need bears now.
War bear’s the new version of the care bear’s?
And here I was, thinking that Bear cavalry is the most stupid idea ever. Apparently TTCombat proved me wrong… I think halflings look better on Great Cocks (get your mind out of the gutter…). But these War Bears are amazing.
Some of those halflings look like people I know. **Shudder**
I don’t need that staring back at me from my work table ?
You’ve got an ex that looks like that, too?
Everyone agrees. We need Panzerbears!
The Walrus seems like a very strange choice of mount. If I am being honest it looks a little bit like someone is trying too hard to be a bit quirky
Loving the commander’s walrus with the scar! <3
Alright.. so Wargames Atlantic have previewed their giant spiders that can be ridden.. by their goblins that the just teased some images of the other day.. and the goblin kit will come with saddle bits so they can ride the spiders….
Depending on how the saddle and goblin legs are made…
Just swap these wild halflings out for goblins.. and put the wild halflings on the giant spiders.. and the goblins on the walruses.. and then drop that into your rpgs, model agnostic wargames, Oathmark, Warlords of Erewhon, Kings of War, or whatever else you can imagine.. lol.. love it.
Warbears and Walrus’, I love the whole insane vibe of this
They are AWESOME!!!!
The bears are ok not keen on the chibi look of the rest as it doesn’t fit in with the style of miniatures I have in my collection
