About the Project
Welcome to The Belons Fantasy box Storage is always an issue for me. But there are always new games being released thati fancy giving a go. I have always enjoyed seeing fantasy armys in big hordes on the table top. Over the years i have had numerous warhammer armies but have always struggled to find space for them so have had to part with them, only to build another army later. It was early one sunday whielst watching the weekender when Ben and Gerry opened my eyes to the wonders that are 10mm miniatures. I always thought that anything smaller than 15mm would lack detail but i was very wrong the pendraken minis are full of character. Then the idea poped into my head and kept buzzing around, that i could find a way to store everything i needed to play including a gaming mat in a single box About the same size as a standard army case. After looking around on the internet i found a cool community of players playing minihammer which is not only smaller models but the table is halved as well perfect for my small flat. You can even get a mini hammer ruler that is marked so that each inch is only half an inch so no measurment conversions are needed mid game. I thought it would be a cool idea to magnatise all the models so i can adapt the baseing to use them in the systems that i have fancied having a go at. I would like them to be useable in Warhammer(minihammer), saga age of magic, warmaster and tiny kings of war. Maybe even revisit moredheim in a smaller scale. Now i just have to wait for the models to arrive.

First unit of goblins
This is my first attempt at tiny goblins, they are crazy small.
i painted them using a grey undercoat with black contrast with the robes.
wanted to make thrm dark and night gobliny but the dark colours were hard to see on the small models.
so i decided tk go the other way and make them nice and bright with swish yellow hoods and bright red spears like old school 90’s goblins.
Little big wyvern
- Not sure why the pictures are upside down, i guess its more orcy that way.
the warmaster wyvern is a great model to paint, i wanted to try out some ideas with the contrast and the big wings were the perfect area to try out one of them.
i wanted to create bands of colour that gave the idea of striped skin.
to do this i used different undercoats to create the bands and then used multiple layers of thinned contrast on top. Think i came out looking pretty cool.
i am amazed how much detail they put in to the dude riding the giant beast.
First group of Flagellants
This is my first group of Flagellants on double bases. The rest will be on single bases maybe for use as witch hunters in tiny moredheim.
the snakebite leather and clear contrast meadium is great for painting the dirty rags they wear.
First middenheim empire unit
Had some fun painting my first unit for the empire army. When the single bases arrive i can build and paint the unit command, musician and banner bearer.
found using contrasts best again as the paint flows nicely and limits the ammount if highlights you need to do on tiny models.
i was going to paint them red and white like my old 28mm empire army but im planning on giving the orks red armour and wanted them to look completely different on the table.
also when ever i think of the empire it always reminds me of an old white dwarf i have with the empire war waggon I remember thinking back then that blue and white looks cool.
i also learned on small bases the magnets are best near the centre as they will have sn effect on the other bases if they are too near the edge.
i will put the snoe on the bases when i have more to do.
Listening to warren on discord whielst sticking my fingers to magnets.
Just spent a few great hours listening to warrens new radio show.
i used the time to start on some bases now that they have arrived
i started by drilling 3mm holes into the bases then super glued the magnets to my fingers then removed them dropped them on the floor removed the carpet fluff then poked them in the holes with the end of an old paint brush.
i found that swearing out loud helps a lot when doing this.
it took 2 magnets to hold the figures to the magnetic sheet but added another just in case. You do have yo get all the magnets the same way around or strange things hapoen to your figures when you try to rank them.
most of the other empire dudes will be on single bases but this lets me splash some paint on them.
Oops.
Doh ?
i ordered my bases wrong!!!
the 10mm x 10mm were ment to be 2mm deep but i ordered the 3mm, it does not sound that bad but there is s huge difference. All is not lost as the 20mm x 10mm were correct so i can build up some double bases to make ranking up easier.
my plan is to base in singles doubles and tripples this should cover me for most eventualitys when i have to remove figures.
Movement trays
Spent this morning making magnetic movement trays.
they are a sandwitch of plasticard, magnetic sheet and felt.
the magnetic sheet is self adhesive so sticks on without the need for glue.
the plasticard left a white edge so i just ran around it with a sharpie marker.
i added the felt to hopefully stop the trays from sliding on the table top.
there is nothing more annoying than your army slowely sliding down a hill mid game.
the warmaster size will take 8x 10mm bases which should look pretty cool in the table top.
i have made the mini hammer bases 50mm x 50mm if i need to go bigger i can just put them side by side or make some more as they take no time at all.
when i get some more magnetic sheet i am going to make some kings of war size trays, i found a conversion to mini kings of war online.
10mm Squigs!!! Life is complete
Just when you thought it could not get better tiny squigs arrive
The monster box
I needed another taller box as i did not realise how tall the 10mm monsters would be, they would have to ho on there sides in the draws which coukd end up chipping the paint.
this box has magnetic sheet stuck to the base to hold the monsters in place.
i also lined the inside with stick on felt to try to prevent chipping if they do slide around.
Tiny giant ?
Still waiting for the bases to arrive, so i thought i would paint the warmaster giant.
This is a realy cool model, he has a great gormless expression on his face and his belt is stuffed with enemys fir him to munch on after the battle also the base is like a little diorama of a crushed waggon and a little human quaking in fear.
Tiny goblin wolf chariots
Thought i would have a go at painting tiny goblins first.
The old warmaster models are amazing with as much detail as there larger counterparts.
i found contrast paints very useful for the wooden chariots and the black robes on the goblins.
I think all units in a fantasy army should have a flag so i built banner poles out of matchsticks and greenstuff.
then glued tinfoil to paper and folded it over the pole gluing it to the other side this gave me banners that i can bend into shape.
im pretty pleased with the snow base.
its a mix of bicarb and pva with a dash of water. I mixed it till it was a thick paste then slapped it on with a cocktail stick.
its a cheap way to make snow that looks pretty cool.

Minis incoming
Bam ?
Tiny dudes are arriving in the post thick and fast.
you can get loads of minis for small ammounts of dosh in 10mm
The humans are mainly pendraken with some old warmaster minis mixed in.
The orcs and goblins are from kallistra and magister militum also with some warmaster bits mixed in.
im still waiting for the bases to arrive then i can start sticking them down and splashing on some paint.
Cheap winter table
Found this cool table cloth in the local B&M store for £4.
its ment to be a marble effect but i think it makes a pretty cool winter mat.
this will also let me try out snow baseing which is something i have always struggled with. Im going to give bicarb and pva glue a go on my bases.
the table cover is perfect as it will fold up and fit in the fantasy box nicely.
Inside the fantasy box
The box has loads of space inside to hold a small set of draws to keep the armys in. It also has room for another box to hold the scenery in when i make it.
the draws have been lined with magnetic sheet to hold the minis in place when they are being stored. Also the draws are lined with sticky back felt to provide some protection if the minis slide about a bit.
