Hails all,

Far too long since I’ve taken part in one of these (the distant days of Unclejimmy and Mage hosting) but with all the free time I have on my hands I decided I had no excuses anymore. Plus, I’m back painting (semi-)regularly so I at least have stuff to show.

Pledge first: At the start of the year I set myself the target of getting a 2,000pt army together for 40k in 12 months. I’ve had multiple armies on the go for years but because I add units to them in such a scattered schedule, they’ve ended up a real mix of standards. I have Dark Angels painted for 3rd edition rubbing shoulders with Primaris Hellblasters etc. So this army was a challenge to paint more consistently and to a common tabletop standard. I also wanted a paint scheme I hadn’t tried before and one I needed to use my airbrush for. I have it ages and have never used it for more than basecoats because I’m scared of it.

Start of the year was a bit of a write-off due to my personal life taking a bit of a kicking but things are finally back on track and I’m aiming for 1,000pts painted by the end of June. The army I chose was Adeptus Mechanicus and so far I have two Onager Dunecrawlers done and have just finished some Sicarian Infiltrators. I went with a colour scheme based on the Knight House Hawkshroud as I wanted my Admech army to play the part of a garrison seconded to the House by Mars. There are three Knights in various stages of assembly waiting too…

So my pledge (after that long-winded intro) is to work on a squad of Skitarii Rangers. So far the yellow has been mostly done and other basecoats are going down too. I basecoat in sub-assemblies before gluing them together for detail work and weathering. So not much to look at yet.

There’s a squad of Skitarii Vanguard, a Techpriest Dominus and some Kastelan Robots left to pad out the first half of the army. All in various stages of basecoating/assembly.

Questions:

1. Feeling good now I’m being productive again. I’ve been off work since mid March and while I have done quite a bit of work for the RPG group I run, too many days have been spent with Netflix or the PS4.

2. Possibly with some painting tips, especially from anyone that uses an airbrush. Still feeling my way along with that one.

3. I was but most of us have been furloughed. We’ll see how “Non-Essential” we are when governments are left to run themselves!

Did you ever try any of the Deus Ex games on console? I loved Human Revolution. Still have Mankind Divided on the ‘To Play’ list though.

@crazyredcoat

Escher looks good mate, I have a heap of Necromunda stuff sat aside crying out for attention. At least you tried with the make-up, I once destroyed a whole squad of Space marine scouts with camo paint over faces I had originally been quite happy with.

@danlee

Love the Ghouls. I never played Warhammer Fantasy or AoS but I’v always loved all the Undead factions. I’ve spent over 100 hours on a Total War: Warhammer 2 campaign with the Von Carsteins.

Finally, a mix of things that have been blasting through the house recently.
