Karimir is one of the many worlds that were once controlled by the great Sith Empire. According to some of the legends, the Sith Empire, populated by a species of long-extinct red-skinned aliens, was a proud civilization that spread throughout the Kodi Maw around the same time that the earliest known documents relating to the Galactic Republic.

In times long past into history, a group of fallen Jedi, exiled from the Republic, crash-landed on Karimir and these Jedi dominated the Sith and eventually set themselves up as the ruling elite.

Over time, the former Jedi bred with the Sith to continue their lines. Eventually, the friction between these two species resulted in a civil war. The vicious conflicts between these two Force-using sects unleashed unimaginable devastation not only on Karimir but on the whole of the galaxy. The planet saw repeated bombardment in the ongoing conflict: its surface was blasted of life and its inhabitants fled or died.

Karimir itself is now a dry, dull rock filled with canyons and caverns and has been forgotten or abandoned for millennia upon millennia. Fierce, Sith-spawned predators populate the world. All across the planet the ruins and monuments to the exploits of ancient Sith lay, It is sadi that ancient sith lords are entombed in even larger crypts below the surface of the planet. Exotic Sith-spawned creatures often guard the tombs, and ancient texts suggest the dead Sith Lords haunt their catacombs, seeking anyone they can corrupt to some unknown purpose.

While most structures on Karimir were designed to house only the dead, the planet did have some areas for the living. It is believed that an ancient sith academy was built near the spaceport. However, the Sith abandoned both the academy and the city long ago, and the world is now populated only by the marooned and insane due to the proximity to the center of the Kodi Maw.
