Corvus Belli Take a Look Inside Infinity Operation: Icestorm
July 15, 2014 by dracs
The new Infinity Operation: Icestorm box set is drawing ever closer and will be seeing its release in the coming August. So we all know what we'll find in the box, Corvus Belli have published a list of the box's contents. Check out this selection of goodies.
Operation: Icestorm is a perfect starter set for players wanting to get into Infinity, providing forces of PanO and Nomads to engage in combat against one another.
The box also contains a game mat and a selection of scenery. Their inclusion in this box set means players instantly have everything they need to get their table ready for playing Infinity. There will also be an exclusive mini for all who pre-order Operation: Icestorm; a Corporate Security Unit.
Corvus Belli have also announced the cool exclusive minis they will have with them this coming GenCon.
We previously saw some of the details regarding the new Neoterra Bolt mini, and it is good to finally get a price for it, along with the other limited edition sculpts that Corvus Belli will be releasing for GenCon.
Infinity miniatures are always of top notch quality and these limited edition models are an excellent addition to a collection, as well as a good painting challenge or alternative models to include in your force.
Will you pick up Operation: Icestorm now you know what's inside? Are you planning on heading to GenCon?
Looks like a great deal all around. I’m going to have to find room in my luggage.
Sounds sweet! Oh boy this awesome! 😀
Looks fantastic, can’t wait to get it in my hands.
Not gonna lie, I’m not overly enamoured with the price point. That said, I’ll be reserving real judgement ’til I get to see the contents of the box properly. I’ve got a few Infinity models for painting purposes, they’re really great little figs, anyone know if these models will be completely new or taken from the existing range? It wouldn’t be a problem as far as I’m concerned but it’d be interesting to know for sure, in any case. This is definitely the box set i’ll be keeping tabs on with the most interest from now on, though. I’ve been… Read more »
Well the contents is basically 2 starter boxes and a dire foes box which is 105€ for the miniatures alone.
The price is a steal for the minatures alone, but you get everything else you need to play on top of that.
At least here in Denmark the price keeps around what we have to pay for other 2-player starter sets.
The line troopers are conformed to be resculps, so are a couple of the skirmishers and the leaders, so at least half the miniatures will be new sculpts
Its a mistake from CB not to show the box contents. All over the german sites, there is a strong negative vibe ( even a mini shitstorm) towards the pricepoint, yet anyone knows the full contents.
They need to show something soon. This kind of taste does not go away easily. They teased us and tried to generate exitment but now it may backfire for them.
Time for mission control to act.
Agreed. Right now it seems very badly priced for what it is. The terrain is going to make or break it for me. But here’s the deal… I’m not really interested in a battlematt (got plenty of tables to play on), a quick play rulebook is absolutely worthless, and if the terrain is the typical punch-out heavy cardboard then that’s worthless as well. Now, if the box contained the full rules and proper all-plastic terrain then I might ignore the fact that I find the two included armies rather dull. “Might” being the keyword here – the price is still… Read more »
So it’s 75 ish pounds for 15 figures? ( If you preorder )
Er… pass.
No doubt the miniatures will be glorious, but you better show me the mat and scenery…
a mini (introductory) rulebook costs next to nothing to produce, so I’m still at the “not enough value for that amount of cash” feeling.
Given that Infinity normally retails a six figure starter pack at £30 and a standard-sized infantry mini for £7.50 then £75 for 14 minis is about regular price. Everything else is essentially free.
Exactly. Comparatively Stormclaw from GW is about the same price. Difference is, here we will get scenery, and with Stormclaw you don’t and you get some more minis.
Though I am more eager to see just how much scenery.
I will be making this my first foray into Infinity when its released. Looking forward to having a bash on it.
This seems to be totally worth getting for those of us that want to start Infinity.
A friend of a friend watched us play a game of Infinity, read some of the fluff & factions, and now wants to try Nomads out (the crazy koalas sold him). This box set will be a good entry point for him, can’t wait to see all the bits & pieces!
I do not know why people are having an issue with the price. I am going to work in pounds here as that is what i know. the starter set will be about £71 and will be lower at stores that offer a discount as standard like many in the UK. giving you 7 minis form each army and a mix of basic line troops, heavy troops and others. Most players will at tournament level games field 10 minis in 300 point lists. 300 points being the infinity standard. the average infinity figure is about £7.50- 8.50 some a little… Read more »
One entry confuses me as someone who’s just been browsing the Infinity site and wiki… what are Grenzers Grenz Security)?
I would love to get my hands on one
Guess it’s a good time to be new.
When piecing together my Pan Oceana I realised I was going to need some cheaper stuff to make a legal army, those Fuseliers will do fine, Only have one of those Nomad figures and I can field plenty, and I was going to buy some Templates anyway, now I’ll make do with a print off till I get the starter.
Got my box today, very happy!
