Tremble As Alternative Armies Unleash Jigoku The Giant Oni
April 29, 2020 by brennon
Alternative Armies has dropped a rather ace looking new miniature into the mix for those building Fantasy Samurai armies. Here we have the towering Jigoku The Giant Oni.
Here is some of the background for this particular monster...
"Jigoku is a legend. A terrible and feared legend among the Kitoka for though almost all Oni are larger than they are Jigoka is the largest of all. The ground shakes as this giant monster walks and it swings its Kanabo levelling bridges and buildings with ease. Only the greatest Samurai will face the lord of destruction!"
The model is looking very awesome indeed and comes in high-quality resin. So, you could break this fellow out and drop him into the mix alongside either the Alternative Armies Kitton range but additionally any other Samurai-based army that you can think of with a Fantasy twist.
This is a very chunky fellow and I like that he has been made completely over-the-top. His club alone is about as big as him and seems like it could crush entire regiments in a single blow. I reckon he would be a lot of fun to paint too, working from that blood-red skin through to the wrap around his waist.
Are you going to be adding this monstrous Oni into the mix?

he doesn’t fit on his base!
Classic old school – no old big models ever fit on their base properly haha
Look at the belly on that Jigoku, I think someone likes an ale or two?I get the email updates off alternative armies and they do some cracking sale deals now and then and are a great bunch of people to buy off
I love this and the range, I have ordered some of the cats for Burrows and Badgers. I got to get this too.
He looks great an different.
Yowza! That is something to bring to the table and make people take notice. After taking a look at the oni from Titan Forge that comical behemoth is in a different weight class. There’s so much that can be done with the clothing pattern with inspiration from ukiyo-e art it boggles the mind.
This is a great model from a great team, as get a lot of Alternative armies stuff, both in 28mm and their 15mm (fantasy and sci fi, and they also have historical) as it fits in too many good rule sets I have.
Liking the old school vibe
