An Update & New Miniatures From The World Of Kingdom Death
July 12, 2014 by brennon
The rather insane mind behind the world of Kingdom Death has updated the Kickstarter page for the project with another run down of what people can expect and indeed when. The core game is off to print and the plastics are getting done as quickly as they can. See some of them below...
As well as another plastic kit like this which gives you a few options for making Rawhide Armour versions of your survivors they have also been taking a look at some of the rather creepy enemies that make up this frightening nightmare world.
The Sunstalker is just plain weird as you might imagine with anything from Kingdom Death but the real winner here is that amazing Lion Knight and his Court. I love everything about the miniature from the base detail to the women around his feet and of course the man himself. That mane of hair and the armour are just astounding and it's all through plastic!
It's hard not to love the look of Kingdom Death and there are plenty more to look at over on the update page!
Are you still excited for Kingdom Death despite the time it's taking to get finished?

I know it’ll get done eventually… A lot of people (not just backers) have indeed been swamped by kickstarters mishaps, but the honest ones and the people who strive for quality always come through marvellously. Late, but they do. It’s just sad that this guy isn’t a winner on this hyper-successful (too successful) kickstarter after all… Unlike Reaper, who made quite a lot on their Bones Kickstarter, already having the production and distribution means : THEY churned out what turned out to be a range of crappy undetailed plastic game-pieces (I dare not call them miniatures) for which they already… Read more »
Hmmm… I don’t have a problem with the Reaper Bones stuff. I didn’t get in on either Kickstarter but I’m ‘reaping’ the benefits now. While the detail and material aren’t great (not a fan of the flexible plastic polymer), Bones gives me the ability to field units of large figures I couldn’t afford before, figures produced by great sculptors such as Tre Manor. Case in point: I’m currently painting a unit of twelve of their marsh trolls, which combined cost less than ONE of GW’s LOTR trolls. All the savings and value are in the big minis, minis you would… Read more »
To be fair, the Bones KS was intended to move production in-house rather than producing a load of new minis. They were up-front about that.
I’ve written at length on the forums about the latest update already so I’ll leave it at saying KD:M is either going to be one of the greatest tabletop games or tabletop gaming’s greatest folly. There’s little room for middle ground.
True about the price… With Reaper, you get what you pay for. The fact that GW is well overpriced for what it is, that’s unrelated, though !
also, GW is publicly traded, unlike most mini companies …
so they have share holders to deal with too : /
… so there’s probably a lot more pressure from their big stock holders
to squeeze as much profit out of it as they can …
… of course not realizing that better prices in the long run lead to greater sales 😛 ha ha
We seem to have gone off on a tangent. My point was not to bash GW, but to illustrate the pluses of Bones figures. I could have used any grossly overpriced plastic miniature for comparison, or any bloated organization that passes off the overhead of running stores no one needs on to their customers ;-).
I do think things are more complicaed than that…
I have been a part of both Reaper Bones kickstarters and I got eactly what I expected. Great value for price to field for any RPG situation. I don’t need high quality minis for that and Reaper Bones ticks all the right boxes.
yeah there’s been a lot of delays, but they seem to be trying their best to achieve the quality they want with the plastics, and take the time to do it right 🙂 … and that’s at least a refreshing level of patience when it comes to production 😛 ha ha after seeing the inner workings of these sort of things on the sculpting side, I realized you should always add 6 months on to the fulfillment date 😛 … add year if it’s really successful 😛 ha ha especially if it’s a newer company who are expecting it to… Read more »
That Sunstalker, is that a new version of the one we see barffing on some ladies?
Maybe there weren’t enough people with that particular fetish to justify producing it that way 🙂
… I think Kingdom Death probably has enough Stalkers already ;P ha ha
The barfing piece is an infant, above is the adult in plastic check out the art of it in action here:

The last picture on that page.
Yep, I have such mixed emotions about this one. On the one hand I’m frustrated at the ever increasing length of the delay and now that we just have ‘It’ll be done when it’s done’ (albeit in the nicest possible way) I’m really finding it hard not to be vexed, but at least it allows me longer to prepare for being shafted by the tax man I suppose (my own fault for wanting nearly everything I know). On the other, Adam’s commitment to quality above all else is eminently commendable and I have not the slightest doubt that this project… Read more »
Coulda, woulda, shoulda… Adam was surprised at the success of this venture. He simply didn’t think (I think) about putting on limited rewards and didn’t crunch numbers long enough to think about “Oh, wait, what if too many people want this and this stops being cost-effective for me ?”… It happens a lot.
Yep, I think you’re spot on here Romain – and I’m really pleased he did as it benefits us backers more than anyone in the long run, just got to be patient! I’m really glad he didn’t limit the amount of pledges etc too – the pure fact that he didn’t, putting creative ambition before practicality is to be greatly admired. Of course it’s all just speculation after the event at this point while we wait in earnest. All backers chose to back this project freely (I did to the hilt), knew what they were in for and placed trust… Read more »
You know, it IS great that he puts creativity first… but I still think we should give him more money for his trouble !
This is just too morbid for my taste. The stuff looks awesome and all but it promises to taste like penis soup.
Agreed. As good as the sculpts are, they just don’t fit into any of the games I run, and I would get some long sideways glances if I tried to introduce one. To each their own, I suppose.
While I appreciate the obvious hard work and the extra attention to detail as a backer I can’t help feel disappointed by a few issues. The waiting time is excessive, given that we are all aware kick starters can be delayed it is not a one way deal. The company provides great savings and we the consumer provide the finance. I don’t think it’s fair to provide a date of completion, over shoot that date, then eventually come out and say when it’s done it’s done. Also its disappointing that after two years not even a partial solution has been… Read more »
I have to agree with you on this one. Ultimately I cancelled my pledge as I didn’t like where this KS was going, Cost me 15% but there ya go >.> The initial miniatures in the box look fantastic and dynamic, the Armour Kits do not. I know that static pose is somewhat required in order to make the kits interchangeable and give them a bundle of options, but standing one of those figures next to a Foresaker or the Phoenix and they are going to look very much out of place. The final nail in the coffin for me… Read more »
The Sunstalker would make a god Nurgle lord alterative?
The dragon turned out looking pretty much like the concept art. Do not feel it looks overly dick like. No more than a coke bottle. It has to have a neck and a head after all. As for the human models, the do not have phallic bits all over them. Nor does the sunstarker, the lion knight, the knight of flowers the nettle knight. Seems like people are just trying to see these aspects even when they are not there. The bodies of the male unarmored models are a let down. The original one shown was less 6 pack and… Read more »
I take it you haven’t seen the picture of the Dragon from behind ?
As for the Sunstulker, Pictured above, you can see that its middle tentacle is actually a cock.
When you see it from behind you will discover that yup it is in fact one huge fat cock.
The nights manage to escape the genitalia vibe the series has, as do the survivors but they are the ones stuck in this nightmare world, so I guess they wouldn’t would they.
Is it? Not being sarkey at all, and I’m not a great fan of the, ahem…appendages (as with the pin-ups too tbh) but looking at the pics from update 81 I can’t see it myself beyond the sinuous eel-like neck and tail. I suppose you could see that there in the design but it looks cool enough to me. As for the Sunstalker….well he’s certainly up front isn’t he! Joking aside hyper sexuality, genitalia and extreme manipulation of the human form in nightmarish ways is obviously a huge influence in the design process of these minis and the nightmare world… Read more »
Rawhides and Lion Knight & Court look very good but that Sunstalker (I assume it’s that big monster and not guy next to it) is just weird.
As a backer I am disappointed at another delay. I do not, however, feel in any way misled about the time frame as some of my fellow backers have expressed. As @elromanzo indicated, Reaper had the masters already for the Bones and Bones II content, KD are creating most of this from concept art.
Seen the dragon from the back and no dick there. I will give you the sunstarker one at the front but do not see it from the back. One does not seem excessive to me.
As regarded to the delay, I am not fussed. I am sure I will get my stuff and it is not like I am simply putting my whole hobby life on hold to wait for it.
