About the Project
As many of you who have been around for a while, will know I am a big fan of Dropzone Commander. It's one of the best gaming systems I have ever played. However with the community for DZC going into hiatus for a while getting games has been a struggle. Anyway this week the new handy copy of the version 2 rules dropped (pun intended). This is got me inspired to look at my unfinished models. I have a draw for each of the factions. But Resistance is my first love.

SkullTaker - Part 2
Beginning to pick out the details
The next step was to start picking out the details, and there are a lot. For this process I have used Vallejo Model Air – Panzer DK Gray.
Next is a layer of Army Painter – Red Tone Quickshade.
SkullTaker
This model had already been prepared and magnetised. I like to magnatise my Dropzone models as it makes the transportation easier and painting these highly detailed models is much better in sections.
Next I have primed the model using Army Painter white primer ( mainly because I had some to hand and it will help with the colour scheme).
Colour Scheme
Just a bit of background on my Resistance force, I took the idea if Sparta as the theme for my force.
The way that the Resistance in Dropzone is made up is as combination of old military tech and repurposed civilian vehicles.
So what I have done is decided that the military vehicles have a combination of Bronze, Red, white and Black with the predominant colours being Bronze and then red. White and black are basically used as trim or accent colours.
The civilian vehicles are far more flexible and add s dash if other colours.
The Skulltaker is in my mind a bit out of the ordinary and is a suped up Lifthawk, which is the main ariel assault transports used by the resistance.
So my idea for this is to flip the colour scheme about and to have the main colour the almost crimson red and the accent being the bronze.
The Wash
The next stage I like to do is to apply a wash over the whole model. In this case I used Army Painter Dark tone. The reason I like to do this is to help pick out the details and provide some clues as to the areas that need to be shaded. It also gives some definition to the panel lines. And will highlight any areas that I missed in the preparation stage.
The next step was to base coat the model. This I have done using Vallejo Model Air – Hull Red.
Note – I like to use the Air range of paints as they are nice and thin, and I use them on a wet pallet.
