Okay guys, for those reading this I would like to push forward a discussion and get thoughts and opinions. If like me last night or this morning you have been looking forward to this weeks episode of the Weekender then you are a fan of what the team does.

For those who are subscribers we pay a low monthly amount to support the content. This has remained the same for as long as I have been a member and beyond.

I would like the team to give us the option to pay a little bit more. Rather than put pressure on the guys to up the price or produce more content I would simply like them to add a tier option of £5.

I do not want this for any extras such special content or treatment or bonuses but simply to pay a little more as I am happy to.

I think the current price should remain and nothing at all change except to have an option to pay a little extra for those that wish to.

If you think this would be something you would also be interested in please give this post a thumbs up to highlight that fact to the team.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Stay safe out there and happy hobbying!

Title edited for @torros, @limburger and @pojoh, my apologies for the inaccurate title from my original post.

Didn’t they used to have an option to buy/donate backstage passes ?

I think it would be cool to have that as an option, because an additional tier inevitably suggests that it gives access to ‘moar stuff’.

Besides … we already have the OTT Store, so we can support the team if we want ‘moar stuff’

The only thing missing is merchandise.
I can’t be the only one who thinks that those OTT caps and”Gerry Can” t-shirts and flegs would be brilliant ?

@limburger your not the only one, I’d also like one of those OTT caps ??. @noyjatat I would most certainly agree to a £5 tier if it means helping keep the lights on. Anything I can buy through the store I do but I think that’s different from supporting continued content such as the weekenders. COVID-19 restrictions will affect many many people in different ways but if a person is in a position to help someone or something that they value through these times then I think it’s an important discussion to have at the very least. OTT may not need it but if they do then I’m all up for it ??.

For those wanting to support via the Store I can highly recommend it. Even with the current problems related top C-19 order was dispatched and arrived quickly. So help keep Justin and John busy and get those orders in 🙂

I would like to know who is being ripped off by paying £3.79 for coffee?

    Hi Guys

Appreciate the thread and sentiment very much. Yeah like many we are facing a heavy period of uncertainty one that I’ve been trying to deal with since the onset of Covid19 lol

I’m keeping a close eye on things to try and gauge how things will pan out, and I will report back to the community with an update on what the status and likely status is when I can.

For the moment we will just continue to do our bit for you guys and those in the local and wider community who we can help in some way.

Like many, we are facing a situation where its a lot harder to earn money or get paid, at a time when our fixed operating costs are still paying out. (And some are increasing such as bandwidth costs etc lol) – But we are not alone in this, and folk have to take care of their own families first.

As a team, we are pretty much of the mindset that we all make it through or none of us makes it through. We are a close group and honestly, we need our team intact to do this. Myself, Lloyd and Justin are a bit too old and too tired to do this on our own again, and it just wouldn’t be the same – and I don’t think I could live with the hollow feeling it would bring lol

Anyway, don’t want to sound all dramatic lol – But yeah, thanks guys we really appreciate the sentiment 🙂

@torros at that price I expect a golden cup and personal delivery 😉

    //

The only problem with the store is that they’re out-of-stock for a lot of stuff I *eh* need due to Covid-19 🙁

But we do need to keep Justin occupied or else his mind will wander …

Avid subscriber here .. but the ‘Less then a cup of coffee’ doesn’t work in Canada lol — It is the price of two coffee’s and a donut here … or two breakfast sandwiches and a coffee ;D

You guys always do a great job .. keep up the great work (from home, and away from me lol)  — stay safe.

We made the call to only sell what we can get stock of. So turned off all ability to advance or back order items.

Really because we just didnt and dont know how long stock disruption would last and god forbid we did end up going under the last thing in the world we want is people losing their hard earned hobby money.

So yeah we ruled out sitting on other peoples money. Was it the right business choice … I dont know … do I sleep a little bit better at night … yes, yes I do. (although sleep is still not great lol)

Four pounds a month is a pretty good rate for 4 paddies that you don’t need to feed…

I have been a member for some years now (I lose count but I think it may be around 8) and the price hasn’t changed in the entire time. If it went up to a fiver I don’t actually think, given inflation, that would be unreasonable.

@warzan I’ve been wanting to increase the amount of my subscription for a while now.

I can’t spend my gaming budget anywhere else for a physical product as my government has made it clear that all online orders are for essential items only – they don’t want the staff of the Post system and courier services unnecessarily exposed – and unfortunately gaming products don’t fall within that definition, even though they relate to mental health…. Plus my grey mountain is quite tall 😉

Thus I have some spare cash that I would like to spend with worthwhile organisations, especially those that have helped me and the community greatly over the years.

In recent Weekenders, your tone of voice makes it obvious that things are not as good as they once were.  And it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realise that OTT’s other revenue streams are probably declining as well.

If OTT were funded via Patreon, I think you’d find that a number of people would have gone to a higher tier by now.  Since I think you started Backstage before Patreon was a thing, all we are really asking you to do is give the community some of the functionality that Patreon has.

Let us worry about how much we can individually afford.

You don’t have the data to make any sort of call on that.

I really don’t understand the reluctance to do what the community (ie your customers) are wanting you to do.

I’d much rather send my money your way than spend NZ $100 on a GW Virtual Gift Certificate to get an extra $10.

It would help me, and I think a lot of the community, if the monetary stresses on you lot were reduced.
