So today I got some smaller batches of models put together. I started with Dire Foes 8 and 9 from the Infinity line from Corvus Belli. I really like the look of the models from Infinity, but in all fairness to the Sisters from last week, no one holds a candle to Infinity in the “fiddly bits” department. I purchased these sets mostly for the HVTs, or High Value Targets. Some Infinity scenarios make use of HVTs as objectives. And while they all are on 25mm bases, you actually have some flexibility as to what the model is. I have seen some players take the metal versions of Aristeia! players and use them, while others use models that are included in the faction boxes, and still others convert their own model. Regardless, I wanted some more options, so that’s why I got these kits. Of course the characters included for the two factions were fun too.

Overall I like the models from Corvus Belli. The level of detail is fantastic, and while they can be fiddly, they have gotten better and try to minimize it where possible. They definitely have a distinct style and I really enjoy them when assembled… but they really do need some paint.

Finally, I finished off the second warband from Beastgrave. I built the first back when I got the set back in November, but I have sort of ignored it since then. I really like the easy-to-build sets from Games Workshop. GW has really improved the quality of these kits from the first easy to build marines that they made back when I started in the hobby in 1998. The level of detail, combined with the small number of pieces, really make me more frustrated about kits like the Battle Sisters. If I’m going to have limited poses, but with the simplicity of the Underworlds kits, I’d rather have the simplicity. I now have 8 warbands and I think they all look great.
