Deathwing Video Game Trailer Slaughters Genestealers!
June 27, 2014 by brennon
Space Hulk: Deathwing has been in the teaser stage for a while now and to be honest it still is. However this summer trailer should have you salivating and hoping this is going to be a great Warhammer 40,000 game. Watch the Dark Angels smash apart some Genestealers in the trailer above...
The trailer shows off a lot of very nice effects from the guns and their sound to the graphical detail across the Space Marines and Genestealers. There are still a few strange things - like the Librarian not having an animated face (at least I didn't see anything move) - but apart from that it does look very cool.
As well as that it does show off that you'll be facing a Broodlord at some point (and my what a big boy he is) so there will be a boss battle one would assume!
BoW Sam: "I am really excited for this game. With the success of the Space Marine game, it will be good to see another aspect of the 40k world explored with modern graphics.
There is plenty of potential for a claustrophobic first person shooter / horror game with the Space Hulk concept and this trailer has me hopeful, although I do hope it isn't all just mowing down tides of aliens and that there will be more tense sections where a jump scare could turn up at any moment."
Are you excited for this one?

This looks fantastic 🙂
That broodlord is at least Hive Tyrant sized . Doesn’t look half bad, I’m waiting for the gameplay though
Are the Deathwing still based from native Americans, like that great Bill King short story that came with the original board game expansion?
I was looking for anything native American too, but it looks like they’re just space knights 🙁
Codex: Dark Angels has retconned the story about the Dark Angels returning to the plains world of their birth and discovering a Genestealer infestation into a story told to Dark Angels of the outer circles as a means to silence questions, and prepare them for eventually revealing the truth of the Fall and the hunt for the Fallen.
All hints of anything Amerindian have been expunged and the chapter is now a knightly order, originally created to hunt giant monsters on Caliban. (and they don’t even get one weapon with Monster Slayer in the whole codex)
Are there ammo magazines in 40k? Looks like a few of those bolters were running low.
Yeah, most Storm Bolter models have a magazine, these appear to be drum-magazines.
Also, anyone else laugh at the amount of ammo they spunk to kill 8 Genestealers, and then have to finish off 2-3 in hand to hand?
This is the ‘cinematic’ trailer, not actual game footage (more’s the pity).
Maybe they have the John Wayne infinite ammunition skill…
I couldnt see them hitting anthing ? Shooting blands ? Those Tyranids should pop like popcorn considering the size of the rounds.#
Recently 40k licensed games havent been all that good. The pinnacle of GW licenses still is Dawn of War
Yeah, Dark Crusade is where its at!
I can’t abide muzzle flash from bolt-weapons. The fluff is very specific that the chemical propellant ignites as/after the shell leaves the muzzle of the weapon, having been fired at a relatively low velocity by compressed gas. If anything there should be contrails along the bolt’s trajectory, and they shouldn’t make much noise, if at all, until the density sensor triggers the explosive charge inside the target. I get that joe-bloggs on the street understands conventional firearms to the extent that a machine gun resonates with him in terms of how it works, but this is longstanding fluff in a… Read more »
Well seeing as how all the artwork out there (official and otherwise) show bolters coughing gouts of muzzle flash, it’s not much of a stretch seeing it visualized here. There’s plenty of discrepancy between the fluff as well, apparently, as all the fluff and fiction I’ve ever read also allude to the bolt shells being noisy/flashy on leaving the barrell. What bit of fluff did you catch that said it was compressed gas (vs expanding gas) shoving a bolt out into the world to do it’s business? I don’t recall ever seeing anything like that.
Don’t forget Space Marine, I had a ridiculous amount of fun in the multiplayer!
So true.. can’t knock that kind of awesome.
Honestly, as much as I might gripe or quip about the trailer, I am looking forwards to this.
( with hands clasped together and eyes shut) Please be a good game ,Please be a good game ,Please be a good game ,Please be a good game ,……………
The Unreal engine is a very powerful piece of code that has been used with great success in the Batman: Arkham series. Seeing it being used in Deathwing inspires a lot of confidence in me as to how the game will look and play. I’m really looking forward to this.
Space Marine was a terrific game that was woefully under supported by THQ due to business complications. Hopefully Deathwing will be better treated on its release.
DEATHWING FTW!!
Awesome trailer!!…..It’s just like I invisage the plight of Scythes salvation squads, great stuff.
I’ve been a fan for the GW video games for a while! loved Fire Warrior on the PS2 and SM on PS3/360. The best has been Dawn of War by far! Dark Crusdae was awesome!!
THIS is 40k … stunning!
